The story begins when Bua Phan invites her close friend Thongmee to eat a strange egg she found by the Mekong River. Thongmee refuses, but Bua Phan eats it and suddenly becomes overwhelmingly thirsty. She jumps into a boat and rushes into the middle of the river to drink more water.

Thongmee cries for help, and Thid Ken pulls Bua Phan out of the river. But she violently lashes out, claiming she is not Bua Phan before dragging him down into the water with her. The villagers, led by old Chiang La, pray to the sacred Buddha image for their safety. Thid Ken survives and tells everyone that Bua Phan has been taken to an underwater city.

Dr. Akkhanee, a psychiatrist researching community mental health, arrives in the village. He joins a spirit-medium ritual led by a medium named Khamphaeng, hoping to learn Bua Phan’s fate. Meanwhile, Dr. Oon-ngern—who is married to Princess Khamkham, Akkhanee’s former love—and Prince Worawong, her brother, invite Akkhanee to inspect a collapsed family stupa.

Worawong, still resentful, attempts to kill Akkhanee for “abandoning” his sister, though Akkhanee only ever saw her as a younger sibling. Together with Oon-ngern, Worawong poisons Akkhanee and throws him into the Mekong River.

There, Akkhanee encounters the Crocodile-Headed Serpent King and Chao Mae Thor Huk, a powerful spirit of the Mekong River. She reveals that she abducted Bua Phan out of revenge—in a past life, Bua Phan and Akkhanee loved each other even though Akkhanee was destined to be her consort. She tries to imprison Akkhanee as well, but he escapes, unable to remember their past.

Back on land, Bua Phan’s mother Boonruen is devastated by her daughter’s disappearance, while Luang Pho Joom, her husband, has become a monk. Soon, Bua Phan returns—but under the spell of Chao Mae Thor Huk, who wants everyone, including Akkhanee, to believe she is a ghost so he will abandon her. Akkhanee refuses to believe it and seeks the truth.

Enraged, Chao Mae Thor Huk unleashes terror—killing villagers and abducting innocent women as sacrifices, framing Bua Phan for the crimes. The villagers attempt to burn Bua Phan alive, but Akkhanee intervenes.

The spirit drags Bua Phan back underwater and forces her to drink her blood, turning her into a half-human, half-spirit being. Possessed and violent, Bua Phan returns and continues killing, including Prince Worawong, who tries to steal treasures from the stupa.

Chao Mae Thor Huk orders Bua Phan to capture Champa, the final sacrifice needed for immortality. However, Akkhanee manages to subdue Bua Phan with a sacred necklace, breaking her power. He then descends into the underwater realm to rescue Champa and discovers the truth—that Chao Mae Thor Huk herself is the true Mekong spirit behind everything.

Akkhanee returns to the surface and joins Luang Pho Joom and the villagers in prayer. On the full moon of the tenth lunar month, when the gate between worlds opens, Chao Mae Thor Huk prepares her final ritual. But the spirits of her victims—released by the Lord of the Dead—rise up to help the humans. Together, they defeat her, and the underwater city collapses.

Twenty years later, Akkhanee and Bua Phan are married and have a daughter named Bai Bua, who looks exactly like her mother. Bai Bua travels to Nakhon Phanom to visit Boonruen and wanders by the riverbank—where she discovers a large mysterious egg.

Unbeknownst to her, every movement is being watched… by the malevolent gaze of Chao Mae Thor Huk, the Mekong spirit who may never truly be destroyed.

The sharp-witted detective San Saeb has opened a spiritual medium shrine under the alias "Pu Kham Saen Roo." He poses as a possessed medium to perform exorcisms, ease the villagers' suffering, and conduct undercover investigations. His reputation has spread nationwide; whenever a case remains unsolved, the victims flock to his shrine to ask "Pu Kham Saen Roo" for help.

Once a case is accepted, San Saeb immediately begins his investigation with the help of two assistants:

  • Phrai Hak Muk: A female ghost and former tree spirit who inhabits a Hak Muk banana tree.
  • Jing Jang: A beautiful and sexy young journalist who can dig up information with incredible speed.

A comedic rivalry exists between the two, as Phrai Hak Muk is constantly jealous of Jing Jang. San Saeb makes it clear that he sees Jing Jang as the future mother of his children. In fits of extreme jealousy, Phrai Hak Muk often possesses San Saeb’s body just to play pranks on Jing Jang, which frequently derails their work and leaves San Saeb deeply frustrated.

Once the investigation is complete and the culprit is identified, San Saeb returns to his role as the medium to reveal the truth to the victims so they can alert the police. Often, the victims are skeptical that the accused is the real criminal. However, once Pu Kham Saen Roo gives his word and magically "summons" the evidence right before their eyes, everyone is convinced, leading to the eventual arrest of the villain.

The story follows the chaotic lives of four siblings with completely different personalities.

Their father, Pa Pa Banterng (Aken Wisarn Chattrangsikul), is a famous TV host and the owner of a program called Banterng Time. He has four children: Banchi (Pawanrat), the eldest daughter; Banleng (Sena Ling Somkiat Chanphram), the artistic second son who loves traveling abroad; Banphaburut (Fundee Jantarathanakorn), who dreams of becoming an actor and making it to Hollywood; and Ballet (Cheer Thikamporn Ritta-apinan), the youngest daughter who has just achieved her dream of becoming an engineer.

None of the four siblings have any interest in taking over their father’s business, as each is focused on their own career and ambitions.

Unexpectedly, tragedy strikes when Pa Pa Banterng dies of a heart attack. Soon after, the family lawyer reveals the inheritance. However, instead of receiving assets or a thriving business, the siblings are left with hundreds of millions in debt—caused by their father’s television production.

The only way to repay the debt is to continue producing their father’s TV show. At first, all four siblings refuse, arguing among themselves since none of them wants to take on the responsibility.

Then, Banjoed (Krissanakun Maneepakaphan), an eccentric and unconventional young man who once worked with their father, brings them a recorded message. In it, Pa Pa Banterng expresses his love and concern for his children. Touched by his words, the siblings finally decide to give up their own careers and continue his legacy.

However, a major problem remains—none of them has any experience in producing a television show. To make matters worse, Ballet takes an instant dislike to Banjoed, and the two constantly argue.

So how will these four siblings move forward? What kind of TV show will they create?

Follow their fun, chaotic, and heartfelt journey in Moradok Banterng (Entertainment Inheritance).
