Phaya Noi Chom Talard

Phaya Noi, the royal son of King Chang Phueak, is spoiled and self-willed, causing constant worry for his father. Even after arranging his marriage, Phaya Noi’s behavior does not improve.

One day, his trusted pages, Madot and Maduat, report that they have discovered a beautiful woman named Mei Cheng. Pretending to inspect the welfare of the people, Phaya Noi travels to Ta Keng Market at the edge of the city.

There, he goes straight to Mei Cheng’s cosmetics shop and attempts to court her. However, Mei Cheng is already married to Matherng, and she firmly rejects his advances.

Enraged by her refusal, the selfish Phaya Noi threatens to harm Matherng unless Mei Cheng agrees to become his principal consort. Left with no choice, Mei Cheng follows him to the palace.

Phaya Noi hides her in a private chamber and orders others to persuade her, but she does nothing but weep and lament her husband. Madot and Maduat then suggest that Phaya Noi kiss her. Unexpectedly, this works—Mei Cheng completely forgets Matherng.

When Matherng submits a petition to King Chang Phueak, Mei Cheng testifies that she came with Phaya Noi of her own free will. Matherng is forced to return home in tears, accepting 50 chang as compensation, while Mei Cheng lives happily with Phaya Noi.
