Synopsis

“Karin” (Chawitkan Wororotyothin) returns from abroad after having gone to study in America since childhood. Because he has been away from home for so long, he wants to explore Bangkok. During this time, “Dolly” (Patchaya Piansamoe), a hardworking young woman who sells pad thai, is chasing a thief when she mistakenly thinks Karin is the culprit. The two end up fighting, and by the time Dolly realizes she has caught the wrong person, she has already split Karin’s head open. To make up for it, she offers him 20 free packs of pad thai.
Karin brings the pad thai home, and “Donya” (Kotchakorn Nimakorn), Karin’s aunt by marriage, tastes it and loves it so much that she asks Karin to take her back to eat Dolly’s pad thai again. As soon as Donya meets Dolly, she feels an immediate affection for her. Seeing how fond his aunt is of Dolly, Karin hires Dolly to help take care of Donya at home.
The first time Dolly arrives at Karin’s house, she is stunned — it is enormous and unbelievably luxurious. Karin’s family owns a seasoning sauce business that sells products throughout the country and around the world. Once Dolly starts helping look after Donya, Donya — who had previously been difficult about eating — becomes willing to eat properly. On days Dolly does not visit, Donya complains that she misses her.
When Karin brings Donya to see Dolly at the Mali Son community, “Daraka” (Pimchanok Kaewlumyai), Dolly’s stepmother’s daughter, becomes jealous that rich people are so kind to Dolly. She tells Donya that Dolly is an illegitimate child whom everyone despises. But instead of recoiling, Donya feels even more sympathy for her.
Karin’s mother, however, dislikes Dolly because she carries emotional scars from having been forced to raise her husband’s child by another woman — “Kanyanee” (Sherlyn Staffy), Karin’s only younger sister. Similarly, Dolly has grown up with deep pain over being called an illegitimate child. Dolly’s father is a Westerner, but she looks entirely Thai, without even the slightest foreign features. This contrasts with “Jenny” (Marisa Scholl), Dolly’s younger half-sister, born to her stepmother “Mina” (Nusara Prawanna), who does look mixed-race. Even so, “Don” (Ken Strutker), Dolly’s father, is certain that Dolly is his biological daughter, though he cannot understand why she shows no foreign appearance at all.
Whenever people insult Dolly by calling her illegitimate, Don defends her fiercely, which makes Dolly love her father deeply. Don is the most important person in Dolly’s life. As for Dolly’s biological mother, she abandoned her when she was still an infant. But Don suffers from alcoholism and often passes out drunk in random places, forcing Dolly to carry him home. When he is sober, he helps Dolly cook and sell pad thai. Dolly loves hearing him tell stories about her mother.
Her birth mother’s name is “Orawan,” also called “Allie.” Orawan went to study in America, where she fell in love with Don. But only a few months after giving birth, she flew back to Thailand and never returned to see her child again. Don carried his infant daughter with him while searching for his wife in Thailand, but he never found her.
Meanwhile, “Nainchonok” (Sumetha Roysi), Dolly’s close friend who secretly has feelings for her, helps her search for her real mother, but they still cannot find any trace of her.
Karin wants to create and sell a pad thai sauce, so he asks Dolly for the recipe to her delicious sauce. Dolly willingly gives it to him for free, on one condition: Karin must design the bottle label with an image of a father, mother, and child, representing Dolly’s dream of a three-person family. Karin agrees, creating the concept for the sauce as “Delicious for the Whole Family.”
Dolly hopes that if her mother ever tastes the pad thai sauce recipe she originally created, it will make her remember Dolly and Don. Even though Dolly does not ask for payment, Karin still gives her 1 million baht for the recipe. Dolly carefully divides the money: some is saved to treat her father, who is suffering from chronic alcohol poisoning; some is donated to help people in the Mali Son community; some is used to support her half-sister Jenny through university; and she also uses part of it to enroll in chef training, because she dreams of becoming a chef like her father Don.
Karin is deeply impressed by Dolly’s gratitude, kindness, hardworking nature, patience, and generosity, and he finds himself falling for her. But he dares not show it, afraid of being accused of “preying on a younger girl.”
After Dolly has been taking care of Donya at the house for a while, she begins to notice that almost no one in the household truly cares about Donya except Karin and Kanyanee, Karin’s younger sister. Dolly also starts to suspect that Donya is being poisoned. She brings this concern to Karin, who is also puzzled as to why his aunt is always sickly and weak.
Together, Karin and Dolly investigate and discover that someone has secretly been giving Donya arsenic.
So who is poisoning her?
