Synopsis
Upon hearing the news of his younger brother Surathin’s death, Tula rushes back from America. Although everyone claims Surathin’s drowning was merely an accident, Tula remains skeptical. After discovering clues in his brother's diary regarding a woman named Sakunket, he devises a plan to infiltrate her household. He disguises himself as "Nai Tu," a clumsy and naive country man, and applies for a job as her driver. Driven by greed, Khun Nai Jinda (Sakunket’s mother) hires him to serve as a servant, gardener, driver, and general laborer all rolled into one.
From their very first meeting, Nai Tu begins to plant "chili seeds" of irritation in Sakunket’s heart, just as she feels a sharp, spicy annoyance toward him. Meanwhile, Thapana, a cunning man, pursues Sakunket for her fortune despite already having a wife, Tripradap. Adding more heat to the situation, Rujirek—Tula’s own fiancée—is involved in a secret affair with Thapana.
Sakunket becomes increasingly suspicious of Nai Tu’s true identity. One night, she secretly searches his room and is stunned to find several English-language books. She keeps her discovery to herself, quietly observing him until a sense of familiarity grows between them. Tula, too, finds happiness in their proximity, and soon they both find themselves dreaming of one another.
However, Sakunket is eventually left humiliated and heartbroken when she learns that Thapana already has a wife and children. Seeing her tears only strengthens Tula’s resolve to make her feel the same agonizing pain he believes she caused Surathin. Driven to despair, Sakunket attempts to take her own life. When she finally learns that Tula is Surathin’s older brother, her heart shatters completely.
Tula forces Sakunket to live with him at a rural farm, where she eventually falls under his possession. Consumed by a "if I can't have him, no one can" rage, Rujirek shoots Tula. In the end, it is their love that pulls Tula back from the brink of death. Upon waking, Tula realizes that the "chili plants" they once planted in each other’s hearts have grown into a great tree of love, bearing the sweetest and warmest fruits.
