Synopsis
Prachan is a kind and generous 16-year-old girl whose parents have separated. Her father remarried Phayao and had two more children, Nammon and Namtan. Due to her father’s womanizing ways, he constantly fights with her stepmother, leading Prachan to move in with her aunt, Ratchanee. Ratchanee is a woman who understands the world and reality deeply, acting as a second mother to Prachan.
After passing her entrance exams for the Faculty of Social Sciences at Thammasat University, Prachan returns home to find Priao, her father’s beautiful but treacherous mistress. Priao is a cafe singer who uses her looks to get money and constantly taunts Phayao. While working at a market, Prachan meets Khaekhai, an elderly expert in Thai herbal medicine. Khaekhai has a grandson named Saengsun, a serious and dedicated young police officer who is also a talented musician.
Prachan decides to work for Naowarat, a businesswoman with various ventures, including a training center for caregivers and patients. It is at this house that Prachan meets Nopphadonai (or Por), Naowarat's son. Naowarat later takes Prachan and Duangkamon to care for Khun Rabiab, the president of several charitable foundations. Rabiab suffers from muscle weakness and is surrounded by greedy family members. Her goal is to find a worthy successor for her philanthropic work.
Rabiab eventually appoints Saengsun as a foundation board member and tasks Ratchanee with handling grievances at a hotline center, with Prachan volunteering to oversee those cases. Rabiab grows so fond of Prachan that she adopts her, making her a legal heir. This sparks intense jealousy from Rabiab’s relatives, including Luephong and Duangkamon. They plot to kill Rabiab and frame Prachan, who is responsible for administering Rabiab's medication.
Meanwhile, Saengsun uses his major music performance as a distraction to raid an illegal gambling den run by Priao and Sukhum (Prachan's father). Priao claims she opened the den because the bank was threatening to seize the house. During the concert, where Rabiab is presiding, she suddenly goes into shock and stops breathing—a calculated move by her greedy relatives to frame Prachan as the sole suspect.
Will Saengsun be able to help Prachan? What will become of Priao and Sukhum’s gambling den? Follow the conclusion in Chan Rue Cha Chai.
