Madam Yihup

Among the officials in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ekarat is the most promising young officer. He is still very young and highly educated, and he is about to be appointed as the youngest ambassador. However, one thing he still lacks is a “madam” — a wife who can accompany him to social events.
Kroek, Ekarat’s father, plans to arrange his marriage with Yihup, the granddaughter of Kamnan Hork, the headman of Bang Pla Ma district. Kroek and Kamnan Hork have been close friends since over 20 years ago, when Kroek served as the district chief of Bang Pla Ma, and they had promised each other that their children would marry.
Ekarat, along with his parents Kroek and Wasinee, travels to Suphan Buri to meet Yihup. She is dressed up heavily with thick white makeup to welcome him. Upon meeting, Yihup is impressed by Ekarat’s handsome appearance, but Ekarat dislikes her rustic manners.
After returning to Bangkok, Ekarat firmly declares that he will not marry Yihup. His mother, Wasinee, supports his decision, but his father insists strongly that he must go through with the marriage.
Wasinee instead prefers Kulthinee, a high-society woman, as her daughter-in-law. Kulthinee herself is quite fond of Ekarat, so she agrees to follow Wasinee’s plan. Wasinee encourages closeness between the two, giving them opportunities to spend time together. Although Ekarat does not truly love Kulthinee, he prefers her over Yihup and begins taking her along wherever he goes.
