Biography
Nat Phuwanai was a Thai actor and civil servant, well known for his significant contributions to both the Thai entertainment industry and public service.
Early Life and Education
He was born on June 2, 1946, in Phra Nakhon (now Bangkok), Thailand.
He completed his secondary education at Santirajbamrung School and later studied Political Science (Public Administration) at San Sebastian College–Recoletos in Manila, Philippines.
Acting Career
Nat Phuwanai began his acting career through charity stage plays before moving into films. He portrayed leading, supporting, and character roles throughout his career.
Notable film works include:
- Mae Sri Phrai (1971)
- Khu Kam (1973), in which he played Kobori, becoming the first actor to portray Kobori in the film adaptation, a role that became highly iconic
- Mai Mi Sawan Samrap Khun (No Heaven for You), among others
He received the Golden Doll Award (Tukata Thong) for Best Actor from No Heaven for You.
Civil Service Career
Alongside his acting career, he served as a government official under the Department of Provincial
Administration, Ministry of Interior.
He later held the position of Deputy Governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province before retiring from public service.
Personal Life
He was married to Nittaya Katchahiran and had several children. One of them, Jarusiri Phuwanai, is also an actress.
Passing
Nat Phuwanai passed away on October 16, 2025, at the age of 79 at Siriraj Hospital, Bangkok.
His death was reported to be related to pulmonary edema and health complications in his later years.
