Biography

Suphan Buranapim

Nickname: Toi

Born on 17 November 1926

Born in Bang Lamphu, Phra Nakhon, Thailand

She was the sixth child of nine siblings.

Her parents were Boonsong Buranapim and Phrom Buranapim.

Career

Suphan entered the entertainment industry during World War II.

She was encouraged by her elder sister, Paiphan Buranapim.

She began her career as a singer with the Crown Property Bureau Orchestra,

under the direction of Khru Narat Thawornbut.

Stage Theatre

  • She debuted as a leading actress in 1944 in the stage play Phan Thai Norasing,
  • opposite Surasit Sattayawong.
  • Later, she became a leading actress with the Siwarom Theatre Company.
  • She gained great fame from Queen Bod (Rajini Bot) in 1950,
  • written by Suwat Woradilok.
  • Other notable stage roles included Cleopatra and Empress Dowager Cixi.

During the late 1940s, she frequently starred and sang opposite

the famous leading man Chalong Simasethien.

Well-known works include:

  • Pha Khamron (song: Uthayan Kulap / Rose Garden)
  • Narent Ritsaya (song: Wiman Rak / Palace of Love)

Producer

She later became a producer and purchased the rights to Neung Nai Roi

(One in a Hundred) by Dokmai Sot, directed by Khru Neramit.

Film Career

Her first film role was Phan Thai Norasing (1950),

starring opposite Chuchai Phra Khanchaichai,

produced by Prince Bhanu Yugala,

and directed by Marut.

She worked extensively with Thai TV Channel 4, Bang Khun Phrom.

  • She was the first actress to portray “Mae Ploy” on television
  • in Four Reigns (Si Phaendin) (1961).
  • Nam Sao Sai as Wannaree (1963)
  • Kom Phayabat as Nuea-yen / Nang Sandan-yen (1969)
  • Ritsaya as Mom Chulee
  • Nam Phueng Khom as Chuangchan (1968)

Personal Life

She was married to Prasit Yuwapukka.

They had two daughters:

  • Pimphan Buranapim
  • Kitikanya Buranapim

Death

Suphan Buranapim passed away on 16 October 1985,

at the age of 60.

At the time of her death, she was directing the television drama

Sai Luead (Bloodline) by Sopak Suwan, broadcast on Channel 3.

She was also preparing productions of Wiwah Phra Samut,

a royal musical drama by King Rama VI,

and The Scar (Phlae Kao) by Mai Muang Derm.
