Hin is the son of a former thug in a small village in rural Thailand. He’s a good guy and well respected in the community because he cares and gives out a lending hand to his neighbors when they are in need. Kaew is the daughter of the mayor of their town. When they were kids, they were very close friends. When she went to study in Bangkok, their relationship turned sour and her impression of him changed because her older brother Jaeng had been telling her lies about Hin – on how Hin is now the thug of their town just like his father was.

After not seeing each other for years, they meet again and Hin falls in love with Kaew because she has grown up to be a beautiful woman. Sadly she hates him because of the lies she heard from her older brother. As time progresses, Kaew begins to see Hin is not a bad guy. He’s actually a good guy trying to save the town from land developers. The land in their province is being brought up by Danu Properties and sold to foreigners.

In a quiet suburb of Bangkok, Khun Nai Paew is overjoyed when her mischievous youngest son, Kaew, agrees to join a summer novice ordination program. She hopes the teachings of the Dharma will finally tame his rebellious spirit.

However, a miracle occurs: while the other boys disrobe to return to school, Kaew finds himself deeply enchanted by the spiritual path. He voluntarily chooses to remain a novice. Despite his mother’s initial worry and her attempts to convince Luang Ta Im, the abbot, to make him leave, the monk explains that one cannot force a devoted novice to disrobe. Eventually, Paew accepts her son's path, realizing he can grow into a good man through both worldly and spiritual study.

Meanwhile, life at the family home—which includes Paew’s husband Bamrung (a former Navy musician), their university-student daughter Gaem, and the loyal helper Bualoy—gets complicated. They rent out a small house on their property to a colorful group:

  • Prasopsuk: A widower and hardworking salesman.
  • Cartoon: Prasopsuk's daughter and Gaem’s best friend.
  • Aoub: A skilled country mechanic.

The peace is disrupted when Gaem mistakes a stranger in the rental house for a thief and beats him up, only to discover he is Tan, Aoub’s cousin who moved to Bangkok for university. Despite the rough first meeting, Tan falls for Gaem at first sight.

As Tan adjusts to college life alongside Gaem, Novice Kaew begins his formal training under the watchful eyes of temple boys Falan and Rambo. Even though he is focused on his precepts, Kaew’s observant and helpful nature leads him to intervene in the neighborhood's many dramas—from the rivalry between Bamrung and the garage owner Hea Rot, to the unwanted advances of the neighborhood brat Chet.

With his wit and simple Dharma lessons, Kaew becomes the community's unlikely problem solver, leading to the local catchphrase: "Got a problem? Consult Novice Kaew."

Episode 1

In the evening after classes, a group of male engineering students—Chat, Ek, and their friends—gather to play takraw (kick volleyball). They invite Ja, the only female student in the faculty, to join. Ja, who is already tomboyish and bold, hikes up her skirt and jumps in to play enthusiastically.

Tuk, a male student majoring in Thai language, stands watching and gets picked on by Chat’s group, who think he’s trying to flirt with Ja. Ja explains that Tuk is just her close friend from next door. As Tuk walks away, Ja calls out to him loudly, “Tuk! Tuk!” but others mishear it as “Toot! Toot!” (a slang insult), making him even more embarrassed. Tuk scolds Ja, and the two walk home arguing playfully.

At Ja’s house, they meet her father, Jala (DJ Joke), who is heading out to work. Tuk asks how Ja feels about being alone almost every night since her mother remarried and left, and her father works nights. Ja insists she’s used to it and not afraid—but once inside, she actually feels lonely and hides her vulnerability.

Meanwhile, Tuk returns home and gets scolded harshly by his mother, Mae Taew, who thinks she saw him with a girl. Once she learns it’s Ja, she calms down since she’s known Ja since childhood, though she still disapproves of Ja’s unconventional personality and her father’s job. Uncle Too and Nim (a young servant) join in, making the house lively despite Mae Taew’s constant nagging.

Tuk worries about Ja and sends Nim to deliver snacks to her, though Nim bickers with Ja’s maid along the way. Ja is touched, but when she calls to thank Tuk, he downplays it, saying it was just leftover food. That night, while Tuk studies poetry with chaotic “help” from Uncle Too and Nim, Ja works alone and listens to her father’s late-night radio show before falling asleep.

Episode 2

On the way to university, Mae Taew gives Tuk and Ja a ride. When Tuk gets out near campus, Chat’s group teases him for being a mama’s boy or effeminate, making Tuk frustrated. His friends—Somchai (a flamboyant male student) and two girls nicknamed Jim Lek and Jim Yai—try to help, even suggesting he change his name since “Tuk” sounds too similar to an insult.

Others advise him to act more “manly,” but his attempts only make him look ridiculous. His friends suggest he get a girlfriend to prove his masculinity. Tuk rejects Somchai jokingly and ignores the girls’ offers.

Tuk starts noticing Nan, an English major, and becomes interested. Ja helps set up a “meet-cute,” but it turns out Nan is already being pursued by Chat. Ja scolds Chat, but he argues it’s fair competition. Seeing Tuk walk toward the campus pond, they worry he might be heartbroken enough to do something drastic.

Episode 3

Ja comforts a dejected Tuk and suggests finding someone new. They joke about Jim Lek and Jim Yai, whose nicknames caused confusion among friends. Tuk then becomes captivated by Namwan, the university’s star beauty. Ja tells him about her, and Tuk becomes determined to win her over.

Tuk tries to approach Namwan but fails awkwardly. His friends criticize her while Ja defends her. Ja suggests Tuk exercise to appear more masculine, and he begins training at her house.

Episode 4

Ja and Tuk plan a staged incident to impress Namwan, but things go wrong when a real thief steals her phone. Tuk bravely retrieves it, but Nim accidentally ruins everything by following the original plan, making it seem like a setup. Tuk confesses, and Namwan is disgusted.

Tuk tries apologizing in various ways—even with a dramatic rose proposal—but Namwan only feels embarrassed and angrier. Later, Tuk genuinely helps her when she’s harassed, getting beaten up in the process. This softens her attitude.

Episode 5

Despite his injuries, Tuk is happy that Namwan starts seeing him. However, she distances him from his friends, making Ja feel lonely. Namwan tests Tuk’s financial status and is unimpressed by his modest lifestyle.

Tuk struggles to impress her, while growing closer to Ja during preparations for Namwan’s birthday. At the party, Tuk imagines Ja instead of Namwan while dancing, hinting at his true feelings.

Episode 6

Tuk feels more comfortable being himself around Ja than with Namwan. Meanwhile, Uncle Too tries to find work and ends up selling noodles, with help from Ja, Tuk, and friends. Namwan is embarrassed by Tuk’s background.

Episode 7

Tuk and Namwan’s relationship becomes strained. A popular, wealthy student-athlete, Paradet, enters the picture and competes for both Namwan and Ja. Tuk grows confused about his feelings for Ja but insists they are just friends.

Episode 8

Tensions rise as Paradet humiliates Tuk. Ja tries to help but complicates things. Eventually, Paradet challenges Tuk to a boxing match at the university, giving him one month to prepare.

Episode 9–10

Tuk trains hard with help from friends and even professional trainers. Though initially clumsy, he becomes more determined, motivated largely by Ja’s support.

Episode 11

The day of the match arrives. Tuk is nervous but encouraged by Ja and even his mother. The match begins, and Paradet immediately attacks unfairly, shocking everyone.

Episode 12

Despite being outmatched, Tuk endures, driven by thoughts of Ja. His persistence eventually leads to a surprise knockout victory.

However, the truth emerges: Ja herself was the “prize” of the match. Furious, she confronts Tuk. He admits he’d rather die than lose because he doesn’t want her to belong to anyone else.

When Ja asks when he started feeling this way, Tuk says he doesn’t know—it just grew little by little until it filled his heart.
