Somtum Hamburger

On the 10th floor of a famous financial consulting firm in the heart of New York City, USA, Steve Brendon (Cameron Nancey), a man in his early thirties, was summoned by his boss and ordered to take an indefinite vacation due to a mistake he made in his financial work. Steve felt like his world had collapsed because, for nearly the past 10 years, his life consisted only of work, work, and more work. His daily diet consisted only of coffee and burgers because they were easy to eat, required no fuss, and did not waste working time. Now that he had to take an extended break, he didn't know where to start. Before he realized it, Steve found himself sitting and eating a hamburger on a quiet beach on "Koh Samui," Thailand. Steve didn't know why he was here; it had never been in his life plan. But because he couldn't think of anything else, he closed his eyes and pointed at a map, and it landed on this strangely named island. Steve sat and laid around for several days until he was about to decide to return to New York. But suddenly, the shrill voice of a Thai woman drifted to his ears: "Som Tum ja, Som Tum!" Steve turned to look at the source of the sound. A small vendor, dressed from head to toe, carried a Som Tum stall and stopped in front of him, playfully making him a dish of her famous, intensely spicy Som Tum. The spiciness, which nearly made smoke come out of his mouth, made Steve remember this Som Tum vendor for a long time. That was how Steve got to know Som (Saiparn Apinya), the mischievous Som Tum vendor. In reality, Som was a student attending a famous university in Chiang Rai province, but she had traveled to Koh Samui to help her aunt work and to pursue a hobby by being a Som Tum vendor during her semester break. However, after doing it for a while, she found that this profession had something more captivating than what she learned from her professors at the university. When the break was close to ending, she returned to Chiang Rai, but this time she did not return alone; her new friend, "Steve," asked to come along.
