Mae Dokrak Re

In a modern metropolis, the belief that hard work, patience, and virtue lead to a good life is fading. Today, many focus solely on seizing opportunities and getting rich quick, discarding honesty and goodness. This is the story of a simple country girl’s struggle in the big city—a journey filled with humor, heart, and a fierce determination to stay true to herself.

The Debt and the Departure

Buatong (Arpa Pawilai) is a 20-year-old high school graduate helping her mother, Yupha, on their farm. Disaster strikes when their land becomes infertile due to secret sabotage by Ta Erb, a corrupt and lecherous moneylender. He offers to clear their 500,000 baht debt if Buatong becomes his wife. Refusing to lose her dignity, Buatong kicks him where it hurts and vows to find the money within three months.
She heads to Bangkok with her boyfriend, Duang (Mahassajan Matri), an aspiring luk thung (Thai country music) singer. However, they are separated at the bus station after Buatong is robbed.

New Beginnings in the City

While wandering aimlessly, Buatong is nearly assaulted by a predator, but she is rescued by Kornthep (Boom-Piyaphun Phakrit), a brave fire extinguisher salesman. With nowhere to go, Kornthep brings her to his home in the "Jaem Jai" community, where she meets his friends:

• Thongdee: A "government official" who turns out to be a garbage collector.
• Benz: A charming, smooth-talking aspiring actor.
• Pa Ploy: Kornthep’s sharp-tongued but kind-hearted mother.

The Rise of "Duangdee Nadon"

Meanwhile, Duang finds his way to Sound Siam, a famous record label. He catches the eye of Nuan-anong, the spoiled daughter of the label owner, Heia Chang. Nuan-anong uses her influence to get Duang an audition. He passes with flying colors and is rebranded as "Duangdee Nadon."
When Buatong eventually finds the company, Nuan-anong lies to her, claiming Duang failed and went back home. Later, Duang is forced to choose between fame and his past; he is told that to sign a contract and become a star, he must break up with his girlfriend. Blinded by ambition, Duang agrees.

The Chicken Rice Venture and a Family Secret

Struggling to find work with only a high school diploma, Buatong tries construction but fails. Seeing her struggle, Kornthep encourages her to open a Hainanese Chicken Rice stall using his mother’s secret recipe.
The business takes a turn when Jao Sua Somchoke, a billionaire Kornthep once saved from a robbery, tastes Buatong's soup. The flavor moves him to tears—it is the exact taste of the soup made by his long-lost love. This leads to a tearful reunion between the Jao Sua and Pa Ploy, revealing that Kornthep is actually the Jao Sua’s son. Despite the wealth, Pa Ploy refuses his money, wanting to maintain their dignity.

Love and Redemption

Buatong wins a local beauty pageant, prompting Kornthep to finally confess his love. However, Duang returns to her, realizing his mistake. Confused, Buatong initially leans back toward Duang, leaving Kornthep heartbroken. He disappears to nurse his wounds.
When Buatong returns to her village, she discovers that her mother’s 500,000 baht debt has already been paid. She realizes it wasn't Duang who saved them, but Kornthep, who used all his hard-earned savings and rewards to help her family secretly.
Realizing who truly loves her, Buatong rushes back to Bangkok to find Kornthep. With the help of Thongdee, Benz, and even the Jao Sua’s limousine, she sets out to find the man who sacrificed everything for her.
