Synopsis
The story of a 17-year-old girl named Chaichaba, with brown eyes and fair skin, who is sharp-tongued, defiant, and afraid of no one. Due to her harsh environment, she was forced to be strong and stand up for herself. Chaichaba lives with her mother, Mae Chom, a woman in her 40s working as a singer at a bar near the pier, and Ai Tho, a thug at the pier whom she despises. Tho is a pimp who relies on her mother for support. Since childhood, Chaichaba has lived with her mother in a cramped row house divided into two sections, with Chaichaba sleeping in the kitchen, witnessing her mother work as a pier singer all her life. Chaichaba never knew her father; despite asking Chom, she never received an answer, only rumors that her father might be an immensely wealthy millionaire. Chaichaba finished only high school before working as a fresh fish vendor at the fish market with Pai Yasoon and Chae, whom she is very close to. Chaichaba is a hardworking girl dedicated to earning money to support her mother and eventually get her to stop working as a nighttime singer, as well as to get rid of Ai Tho, the pimp who always looks for opportunities to assault her, forcing her to be on guard constantly and never sleep soundly.
Chaichaba worked hard until one day, not paying attention, she ran her fish cart over the shoes of a good-looking man in his late 20s named Thiu, the new captain of a cargo ship. Upon seeing Chaichaba, Thiu became interested and had to secretly ask the first mate, Somvej, who she was because her good looks and skin made him curious. When Thiu encountered Chaichaba at the pier, he approached her to make friends, feeling fond of her, but was immediately shut down by her sharp tongue. Chaichaba began to lose patience with her mother's situation and Ai Tho, so she moved out to rent a room from Pai Yasoon alone. Her mother didn't object, unlike Ai Tho, who disagreed but couldn't do anything about it. Not long after, Chaichaba didn't see her mother for several days, so she went to check on her at the row house and found out her mother was sick. When taken to the clinic, the doctor advised taking Chom to a hospital because it might be cancer, causing Chaichaba great anxiety and worry as her mother refused to go to the hospital. Meanwhile, Captain Thiu, drunk from a party before leaving for Singapore, encountered Chaichaba at the pier and mistakenly thought she was a prostitute, trying to hire her for the night, for which Thiu was punched by her.
When Thiu returned from Singapore, he found Chaichaba to bring her a doll he had bought, making her feel good and happy, as it was the first time someone had thought of her and valued her. Chaichaba was in such a good mood that Pai Yasoon noticed and, upon learning the story, warned her not to get carried away by trivial things; she understood but couldn't help it.
Before long, Thiu sailed to dock in Singapore again. He met an elderly man with a large physique and thick beard and mustache named Adam Smith Jr., the owner of the largest maritime shipping company in the region. Thiu met Adam at a bar and felt a strange familiarity upon locking eyes with him. After talking and getting along well, Adam invited Thiu to work for him, but he asked for time to think, as something made him hesitate despite the great opportunity, to which Adam replied he would wait for the answer. On the other hand, Chaichaba was distressed about her mother's cancer, needing urgent surgery, and how to find money for treatment, causing her to lose her appetite and sleep. During this time, Pee Yuth, Pai Yasoon's son who was close to Chaichaba in childhood, returned from working as a military trainer. When Yuth learned that Chaichaba's mother was hospitalized, he went to visit. Since Chaichaba hadn't been able to work because she had to look after her mother at the hospital, her savings were almost gone, forcing her to return to work desperately.
The next day, after Chaichaba returned from work, she was shocked to see her mother stop by to tell her she had left the hospital. Chaichaba tried to tell her mother to go back to the hospital, but it was futile, making her even more distressed. Thiu and Pee Yuth came to comfort her and showed her such great kindness that she felt as if the missing piece in her heart had been filled. Chaichaba went to work as usual, but that day she encountered Ai Tho causing trouble and thinking of using force when she scolded him. However, Yuth arrived just in time to help her, throwing Ai Tho into the water. This incident made Ai Tho furious at Yuth for making him lose face and for bothering Chaichaba, prompting Ai Tho to plot to eliminate Yuth if given the chance. Chom returned to working as a singer, and even though Chaichaba begged her to stop, she ignored it, justifying it only by saying she needed to eat and pay expenses, making Chaichaba even more worried about her mother. In reality, Chom did not want Chaichaba to suffer trying to earn money to treat her. After that, Pee Yuth visited Chaichaba every day, reminding her and giving her encouragement with changed feelings, which Pai Yasoon began to notice but said nothing about. One day, Chaichaba seemed unusually irritated; Pee Yuth came to visit and asked her out to eat, but she refused, not understanding herself why she felt irritated after seeing Sirinapha hugging Thiu's arm and getting into a car with him. Not long after, Thiu met Adam again and learned that Adam was coming to Thailand and requested his help in finding his child and wife, to which he agreed.
Adam told Thiu the whole story, making him realize the truth that Chaichaba is Adam's daughter. At the same time, because Chaichaba never returned to eat at Pai Yasoon's house with Yuth, Yuth became worried and went out looking for her, only to encounter Ai Tho, leading to an argument that resulted in Ai Tho killing Yuth. Nang Yasoon was heartbroken, unable to do anything, while Chaichaba felt immense guilt, believing she was the cause of Yuth's death. Chaichaba took good care of Pai Yasoon and handled all the funeral arrangements. While Chaichaba was out, she met Thiu, who told her about Adam, leading Chaichaba to ask her mother if it was true, but her mother claimed it was a children's fairy tale, deeply upsetting Chaichaba. Thiu hugged her to comfort her, unaware that Ai Tho was eavesdropping and immediately began plotting evil plans.
Afterward, Chom came to see Thiu to tell him not to get involved in this matter anymore, but Thiu refused. Chom then went to see Chaichaba to forbid her from getting involved or talking to Thiu about her father anymore, which worked when Thiu came to see Chaichaba out of concern. Chaichaba told Thiu she no longer wanted a father, saying she would do anything for her mother, even if it meant selling her life, and told him not to bother her again. Not long after, Chom passed away. Chaichaba was heartbroken; when Thiu found out, he came to comfort her and told her she now only had her father, adding that he loved her and wanted the woman he loved to be a good person, claiming he had the right to intervene if Chaichaba went to work at night, saying he couldn't love her then. This made Chaichaba extremely sad, and she ran away. Chaichaba was so devastated she decided to work as her mother once did at the pier. Thiu found out and rushed to see her, leading to an argument. Thiu was so furious he decided to buy Chaichaba himself, frightening her until she fainted. Thiu took Chaichaba to rest at Sirinapha's house and told her the whole story, to which she agreed to help. Afterward, he went to meet Adam to tell him the whole story, unaware that Tho and Hian were stalking them. Tho and Hian broke in to kidnap Chaichaba from Sirinapha's house for ransom. When Thiu found out, he rushed to find Adam, Chaichaba's father, to tell him what happened. Just then, the phone rang; Thiu quickly answered and agreed to bring the ransom money as scheduled.
When they arrived, both sides exchanged items. When Tho opened the bag and realized there was no money, only bricks, he was furious and drew a knife to stab Chaichaba to death, but Adam jumped in to block it and was stabbed instead. Tho and Hian were arrested by the police whom Thiu had called. Chaichaba was filled with sorrow, believing she had caused her father's death because of her stubbornness. Thiu comforted her, saying it was according to karma, and the two reconciled. Suddenly, flowers fell as if from a blessing from the sky and the deceased. From now on, Chaichaba will not be the "Busaba of the Pier," but will be the Busaba in Thiu's heart forever. Follow the drama Busaba Tha Ruea every Monday - Friday at 6:45 PM on Channel 7 HD.
