Ingdao is a young woman from the countryside who comes to the city in search of opportunities. Her goal is to graduate from university, but life is not easy for a disadvantaged girl. She has to struggle to work while studying at the same time. One day, after losing her job, she boards a crowded bus to look for work. While talking on the phone with her mother, she is pushed in the crowd and her phone slips from her hand. Phuping accidentally kicks it off the bus, and to make matters worse, a taxi runs over it and destroys it completely. Their first meeting is far from impressive.
The two become entangled again when Jae So, the owner of the flat, comes to collect the rent. Ingdao has just lost her job and has no money to pay, so she risks climbing across the balcony to hide behind Phuping’s room. Thinking she is a thief, Phuping tries to catch her and call the police. Ingdao explains that she simply cannot afford the rent. This moment marks the beginning of a friendship between two young people from the provinces.
Phuping is a handsome, muscular young man who graduated in physical education. He came to Bangkok to find work and now sells exercise equipment for a living. Because of his good looks and perfect physique, many admirers—both men and women—try to tempt him, but he pays them no attention because he already has a girlfriend, Mudmee, a cosmetics sales clerk at a department store. However, their relationship is unstable because Mudmee always believes she should marry a rich man, and Phuping is not the prince of her dreams.
When Phuping proposes marriage so they can move into the same apartment and save money, Mudmee hesitates. She is unhappy that he does not pursue a more stable and higher-paying job.
The next day, Phuping goes to the market and finds Ingdao arguing with local vendors because she is trying to sell second-hand books. He kindly steps in to help. Unfortunately, when Ingdao returns to her room, she discovers that her belongings have been thrown out because she could not pay the rent. With nowhere to go, she is temporarily allowed to stay with Phuping, but with one condition: if Mudmee comes to visit, Ingdao must hide so he can spend time alone with his girlfriend.
When two strangers must live together and rely on each other, warm feelings gradually grow between them. Both have dreams of a better life. Phuping hopes to save money to build a new house for his mother and eventually marry Mudmee. Ingdao dreams that one day a prince will rescue her from poverty. The man she imagines is Anawin, the handsome owner of Anawin Hair Design, a famous hair stylist known as the “Jade-Faced Diamond Scissors.” Although he manages the salon, he personally cuts hair only for VIP clients.
Ingdao first becomes impressed with Anawin when she is working as a brochure distributor at the grand opening of his salon. She is knocked down by a crowd of photographers, and Anawin kindly helps her up. The encounter inspires her to dream of becoming a professional hairstylist. When she hears that the salon needs a shampoo assistant, she immediately applies for the job. On the same day, Anawin is being interviewed for a television program and needs someone to model a haircut demonstration. Since there are no customers, he asks Ingdao to be the model and even offers to pay her. However, a condescending remark from Nada, Anawin’s girlfriend, makes Ingdao refuse the payment. Later, after hearing from his manager that Ingdao applied for the job, Anawin hires her as the salon’s new shampoo assistant.
Working there is not easy. Ingdao must face Pim and Ploy, the troublesome twin shampoo girls who dislike her, believing she will steal their customers and that she got the job through connections. They constantly bully her to force her to quit. Yhok, a sharp-tongued gay hairstylist, also joins in mocking her. Meanwhile, Anawin keeps his distance to avoid gossip. Only Joe, a talented hairstylist at the salon, treats Ingdao kindly and gives her advice.
Joe is an orphan who was raised and supported by Anawin’s parents, Kesara and Anawat. He becomes a skilled hairstylist but secretly resents Anawin for being more famous than him despite Joe winning the national hairstyling championship. Deep down, he dreams of becoming the most famous hairstylist himself.
When Pim and Ploy mock Ingdao for not knowing how to wash hair properly, she asks Pornla, the cheerful Isan owner of a small beauty salon in her apartment building, to teach her. Pornla runs a small salon that also serves as a gossip hub for housewives in the flat. Thanks to her help, Ingdao quickly learns how to wash and blow-dry hair properly.
Pornla dreams of marrying a foreigner so she can live abroad. She practices English and chats with foreign men online. Her dreams are often mocked by Numchok, a middle-aged security guard who works at a nearby condominium. The two constantly bicker with each other.
Meanwhile, Ingdao studies during her free time at Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University in pursuit of the degree she has always dreamed of. At the university, she reunites with Auan, her close friend from high school in Khon Kaen. In their hairstyling course, students must demonstrate their skills in a final exam. The student with the highest score will earn the only internship opportunity at Anawin Hair Design. Everyone competes fiercely, including Nongnuch and Gibgae, two close friends who become Ingdao’s rivals.
Phuping agrees to be Ingdao’s model for the competition, but on the morning of the event, his girlfriend Mudmee breaks up with him, saying she cannot stay with a man who has no future. Heartbroken, he goes to plead with her at her condominium, but she slams the door in his face.
As Ingdao faces her own struggles and disappointments, she slowly begins to realize that the person who always stands beside her is not the man of her dreams—but Phuping, the friend who has quietly supported her all along.
