Synopsis
Ruangkhao Kamolanan Saenchon (Cheeranat Yusanon) dreams of a luxurious gala dinner where she is the center of attention among high society and the media. However, her sweet dream turns into a nightmare when an old man shouts at her, calling her ungrateful and accusing her of forgetting her roots. Ruangkhao wakes up startled, memories of her past flooding back. She was abandoned as a baby by Namkhang (Suangsuda Lawanprasert), her teenage mother, leaving her in the care of Grandpa Chang (Montri Jenaksorn) and Aunt Noi (Narumon Nilawan). Namkhang fled without revealing the father’s identity, causing Grandpa Chang immense pain.
Tewmek Nueakarn (Warit Sirisantana) was another child left in Aunt Noi's care, making him and Ruangkhao grow up as close friends. Tewmek dreamed of becoming a pilot and often took Ruangkhao to watch the clouds at a shelter on the hill, a place of deep bonding for them. However, due to Ruangkhao's curiosity and Tewmek's youthful recklessness, they fell victim to Ma (Somlek Sakdikul) and Meow (Daraneenuch Pohpiti). The couple secretly took compromising photos of the two to accuse them of having an affair in the library, aiming to ruin their reputation and force Grandpa Chang to resign as village headman. Furious, Grandpa forced 14-year-old Ruangkhao to marry 17-year-old Tewmek. Ruangkhao tried to run away in the rain to find her mother. Tewmek tried to stop her, but she made a promise to him to get away. For Tewmek, it was a vow from the heart, but Ruangkhao broke the promise and left.
Ten years later, Ruangkhao returns with a master’s degree from the US. She is groomed to be an executive and marry Kalin (Jakarin Silpchai), the only son of Kol (Prakasit Bowsuwan). Kol, now a wealthy business owner and Namkhang’s partner, secretly supports Kalin to win Ruangkhao's heart, though Ruangkhao sees him only as a brother. She decides to return to her hometown, believing that her wealth, new car, and foreign degree will make Grandpa Chang forgive her.
Ruangkhao presents a CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) project to Kol as her first assignment. Kol agrees immediately, but only because he has a secret plan to build a gold mine at "Ban Ai Din" and wants to use Ruangkhao to smooth things over with the locals. Ruangkhao drives home with high hopes of fixing her past mistakes and reconciling with her grandfather.
Upon arriving at Ban Ai Din, Ruangkhao meets Tewmek, who looks like a simple farmer. She pretends not to know him and looks down on him, thinking she is superior. They argue constantly because Tewmek is still hurt by her broken promise. Ruangkhao goes to see Grandpa Chang, but he rejects her material success and kicks her out. Tewmek mocks her, which only fuels Ruangkhao's determination to stay and prove herself to Grandpa.
Ruangkhao is heartbroken to learn that Grandma Noi has Alzheimer's and cannot remember anyone. She finds old letters written to Grandma by an anonymous man. Reading them gives her warmth and inspiration to do good deeds through the King's projects, following the path of this loyal anonymous man. However, the final letter is missing.
Ruangkhao pushes her CSR project through Mayor Ma (the corrupt official from her childhood). She trusts him, but Tewmek warns her against it. She eventually discovers the corruption and realizes Ma is not the good person she thought he was. Feeling foolish and insulted, she tries to redeem herself by buying student uniforms for children, still believing money is the solution.
A drought hits the village, causing a near-violent conflict over water. The conflict is resolved when the Royal Rainmaking (Fon Luang) brings rain. Ruangkhao realizes that sustainable solutions are needed and proposes building "Check Dams" to slow the water flow. Despite opposition from Singto (Ma's son) and Kalin, and a heated argument with Tewmek, she commits to the project. Tewmek takes her to see the check dams Grandpa Chang built years ago, revealing the good deeds her grandfather did while she was away. Ruangkhao feels proud and begins to open her heart to Tewmek again, though she holds back due to her mother and grandfather.
Heartbreak strikes when Meow sabotages the new dam. Grandpa Chang, unable to watch Ruangkhao suffer, leads the villagers to help her rebuild it. Ruangkhao learns that Paiwan (Kittilapat Korsutthiwan) is not Tewmek's girlfriend, and that Tewmek is actually a pilot for the Royal Rainmaking Operations, not a poor farmer. After some anger over the deception, they reconcile.
Chaos ensues when Namkhang forces Ruangkhao to marry Kalin to repay Kol’s kindness. Ruangkhao learns of Kol’s plan to buy land for a gold mine but initially refuses to believe Tewmek, accusing him of lying. The truth comes out during a confrontation where Kol insults Grandpa, sending him to the hospital. Namkhang finally stands up to Kol. Singto kidnaps Ruangkhao and starts a forest fire to cover their tracks. Tewmek flies a mission to create rain to stop the fire, but his plane disappears.
Ruangkhao is devastated. Kalin rescues her from Kol's assault, and she confesses her love for Tewmek. Kalin steps aside. Ruangkhao waits for Tewmek at the mountain, praying for his safety until she collapses. She wakes up in the hospital to the news of his return. They reunite, promising never to let the past separate them again. It is revealed that Tewmek had been taking care of Grandpa and Grandma for the past ten years. Namkhang accepts Tewmek, and the village returns to peace. Ma and Meow are ruined by Singto's gambling debts and flee.
Ruangkhao finally receives the missing letter from Tewmek. She learns the writer was Mekhin Pinphak, her biological father, a civil servant in the Royal Project who died in a plane crash while on duty. Ruangkhao is filled with pride. Tewmek takes her flying to see the Royal Rainmaking operation and the clouds. amidst the clouds, he asks her to marry him. They promise to protect the land together forever.
