Synopsis

In a Chinatown district of Thailand stands an opera house named the "Fah Din" (Heaven and Earth) Troupe. It is an ordinary opera house with an ordinary name, but the owner is eccentric, and the workers are even more peculiar—strange in their habits, their martial arts skills, and their backgrounds. Yet, their love is warm, deep, and powerful, like the sun driving away the cold darkness. This is the story of a worker named Kung Fu.
Kung Fu is the adopted son of Hia Chen and Madam (Huyin), the couple who founded the troupe, alongside their close friends Hia Lor and Hia Kao. Kung Fu has a best friend, Burlim, the young son of Hia Chen and Madam. Kung Fu dreams of becoming a heroic martial artist like in the novels—possessing high-level skills and moral integrity—but currently, he only sells dim sum with Burlim. Madam strictly forbids him from practicing Chinese martial arts without giving a reason.
Burlim has a crush on Linlin, the daughter of Sia Peng and Sor Song (Sia Peng’s second wife). Linlin has a beautiful dance teacher named Melada, who teaches Thai dance and is also a Muay Thai fighter. Melada is the girlfriend of Mekha, Sia Peng’s eldest son (from his first wife, Meiying). While Mekha appears to be a good man, he is secretly evil, inheriting his nature from his biological father, Zhang Zu, the leader of the "Asura Deva" (Heavenly Demon) sect, Hong Kong's most influential mafia. Zhang Zu plans to expand his influence to Thailand with his disciples, Michelle and Ah Fei, recruiting Mekha to their cause.
Mekha plots to kill Sia Peng, Sor Song, and Linlin to take over the family fortune. Linlin survives thanks to Melada, Kung Fu, and Burlim, but the shock causes her to lose her memory. Mekha frames Melada for Sia Peng’s murder to cover his tracks.
Kung Fu hides Melada and Linlin in the opera house before moving them to a rental house owned by Hia Por, using the fake names Lin Hui and Lin Ping. Life isn't peaceful, however, as Jay Yee, a woman obsessed with Hia Por, constantly harasses Melada out of jealousy.
Michelle falls in love with Mekha and helps him hunt down Melada. She kidnaps Melada's father. Kung Fu learns a bizarre "Toot" (effeminate) martial art technique to save them. He succeeds, but Melada's father dies from his injuries. Melada is consumed by vengeance but holds back to care for Linlin.
The opera masters (Lor, Chen, Kao) try to cure Kung Fu of the "Toot" side effects. In doing so, they discover a dormant, powerful energy within him. They realize this is why Madam forbade him from training—she feared he would become an invincible demon like his biological father.
Madam had instead passed all her martial arts knowledge to Payu, another adopted son. Unlike Kung Fu, Payu was spoiled by Madam and grew up arrogant, viewing Kung Fu as a servant. While Kung Fu works hard to support the troupe, Payu squanders money.
Payu and Kung Fu encounter Ting Li, a nightclub tycoon being attacked by a rival, Hia Tao. Kung Fu risks his life to save Ting Li, but Payu takes the credit. Payu becomes Ting Li's assistant, seeing it as a path to power. At the nightclub, Payu falls for Netnapha, Ting Li’s mistress and Melada’s estranged older sister.
Mekha takes over Sia Peng’s empire and expands the Asura Deva’s influence. Meiying is heartbroken by her son's wickedness. Zhang Zu confronts Meiying, revealing the past: Decades ago, Zhang Liang (Meiying's brother and Kung Fu's real father) founded the Asura Deva sect. After his wife died in childbirth, he wanted to turn the sect toward good. The sect members rebelled, led by Zhang Zu. Zhang Liang was killed, but Meiying saved the baby (Zhang Fu, now Kung Fu) and hid him with Hia Chen in Thailand.
Kung Fu discovers his talent for martial arts during a street fight and becomes the opera troupe's lead actor, recruiting Melada as the heroine. During a performance, Zhang Zu attempts to kill Kung Fu. Payu intervenes to impress girls, leading Zhang Zu to mistake Payu for Zhang Liang’s lost son.
Mekha manipulates Payu into betraying Ting Li. Michelle tests Kung Fu’s skills and realizes his rapid growth comes from the genius bloodline of Zhang Liang. Madam finally finds out Kung Fu is training but forgives him after Hia Chen reminds her they can no longer run from destiny.
Payu rises in the ranks of the Asura Deva. Linlin regains her memory and fights off Michelle. Melada has a chance to kill the injured Michelle but spares her. Meiying reveals the truth of Kung Fu’s birth to him. Though devastated to be the son of a "demon," Kung Fu vows to prove he is a hero of the light.
Zhang Zu punishes Mekha for failure by using "Gu" bugs to turn him into a mindless zombie assassin sent to kill Michelle. Michelle is forced to kill Mekha and discovers that Hia Lor is her long-lost father.
The opera masters use the "Plum Blossom Formation" to fight Zhang Zu. Payu betrays them again, killing Madam and breaking the formation. Kung Fu suffers a Qi deviation from rage but is saved by Melada’s "Yin" energy, deepening their bond.
Kung Fu defeats Ah Fei, who commits suicide. Monk Gu Long saves Kung Fu and reveals Madam is actually alive. Zhang Zu holds Melada and Netnapha hostage. Payu tries to betray Zhang Zu but is killed by the mobsters. Melada agrees to marry Zhang Zu to save her sister’s life.
Kung Fu crashes the wedding. He defeats Zhang Zu but refuses to kill him, proving he is not a killer. Zhang Zu reveals this was his final gamble: to push Kung Fu to the dark side through hatred so he could inherit the Asura Deva. Since Kung Fu refuses to become a demon, Zhang Zu resolves to kill him. The true battle between Kung Fu and Zhang Zu begins, with the fate of the martial world at stake.
