Synopsis
Chatkla (Anuwat Choocherdratana), a boy born in a slum community atop a garbage dump, is the son of Chaichana (Kasap Jumpadib), a drunkard and gambling addict who regularly physically abuses his wife, Amporn (Chadapon Rattanakorn). However, thanks to the upbringing of Amporn and Uncle Tham (Sorapong Chatree)—a respected figure in the community who instilled goodness in Chatkla from a young age—he does not grow up to be aggressive like his father.
Amporn's virtue captures the heart of Sia Heng (Songsit Rungnopphunsri), a junk business owner, who secretly loves and helps her. After Chaichana dies, Sia Heng takes Amporn and Chatkla into his home, despite the hatred of Ah Ma (Piyamas Maneekul), his mother, and Kim Lan (Chatchadaporn Thananta), the woman Ah Ma forced Sia Heng to marry. Sia Heng continues to love Amporn and supports Chatkla's education. When Chatkla grows into a young man, he falls in love with Nid (Kannaporn Puangthong), a beautiful girl from a good family. They have feelings for each other but must hide them because Nid is already engaged to Ekkapob (Nonthapan Jaikunta).
Ekkapob loves Nid deeply but realizes she has feelings for Chatkla, so he tries to obstruct their love. He bullies Chatkla and frames him to look like a bad person in Nid's eyes, with the help of Dokpeep (Kanyarat Pongkumpanat), Nid's close friend. This leads Nid to misunderstand Chatkla, believing he is already in a relationship with Muay (Chananya Pongnak), Kim Lan’s niece, and is deceiving her. Nid decides to marry Ekkapob, fully aware that she will never find happiness in married life.
Heartbroken and disappointed in love, Chatkla decides to escape it all by dedicating himself to serving his country. He volunteers to become a Border Patrol Police officer alongside Dech (Phasin Sritham), his close friend, though he still longs for news of Nid. Meanwhile, when Ekkapob realizes Nid will never love him, he becomes violent and abusive, beating Nid until they reach a breaking point and divorce. Nid is overjoyed to be free and rushes to find Chatkla at the border. They reconcile and live together happily until Nid becomes two months pregnant.
Chatkla and Dech encounter drug traffickers on patrol, leading to a battle. Due to his consistent good deeds, Chatkla is hailed as a hero. In a media interview, he unashamedly recounts his life born in a garbage dump community and his pride in doing good, earning him the nickname "Hero of the Garbage Pile." However, at that very moment, he is shot by drug dealers seeking revenge. Chatkla collapses surrounded by Nid, Amporn, and friends who had come to congratulate him. Shocked, Nid rushes to cradle Chatkla as blood seeps out until he finally loses consciousness.
