Synopsis
In the realm of Hell, the sky that serves as the boundary between the human world and the underworld has turned chaotic and ominous. The Lord of Death (Phaya Yommarat) gazes with his divine eye and realizes that not only is the natural balance of the world being destroyed by humans, but morality is also vanishing from society. This causes many to fall into Hell while Heaven remains empty, plunging the spiritual balance into crisis. If Hell were to break open, its denizens would escape to be reborn as humans, seize power, and ultimately destroy the human world.
In the community near Lalit’s apartment, many strange incidents occur. The root cause is that this apartment building has an elevator built directly over the gateway connecting the human world and the underworld. This makes the elevator a passageway for Grim Reapers, acting under orders from the Lord of Death, to transport souls—both good and evil—down to hear their judgment in Hell.
Apart from Suwan and Suwan (the scribes of karma), the Lord of Death has appointed the soul of an aborted child who possessed great gratitude to be a special reaper named "Kuman Thong." This "Little Gold Reaper" can travel between the human world and Heaven on command. His mission is to help good people and guide the misguided back to the right path so they do not end up in Hell. Because the gateway is located at the apartment elevator, Kuman Thong frequently mingles with the residents.
Lalit, the beautiful owner of this problematic apartment, recently lost her father and has had to take over the family business. The male lead is Captain Manas, a special investigations police officer working undercover to gather intelligence in the area, which leads him to stay at Lalit's apartment.
Manas's undercover work brings him face-to-face with cases that reflect the corruption of society, such as murder, abortion, and drugs. He witnesses the conflict between good and evil, the influx of new cultures and technologies that overshadow traditional values, and the materialism of the new generation. The story explores human desires—love, greed, anger, and delusion—where people seek their goals by any means necessary. Ultimately, their sins return to destroy their lives. This all stems from the decline of human morality.
Both good and evil events endlessly entangle the lives of Lalit and Manas. They seem to be magnets for trouble, unaware that it is because the apartment's elevator is the gateway to the underworld. Amidst the chaos, the hero and heroine—usually bickering rivals—must call a truce and work together to help people. They are joined by "Pui," the old security guard who served Lalit's father. Pui is terrified of ghosts yet constantly encounters them, providing comic relief and laughter for those around him.
No matter how many issues arise, Manas always finds the cause, often with Lalit unintentionally helping him. Whether human sins are committed intentionally or not, when a person's time on earth ends, they must inevitably descend to face fair judgment from the Lord of Death. As the saying goes, "If morality does not return, the world will perish."
