Synopsis
Pa Haeng Sattha (The Forest of Faith):
Manow (Chat Pariyachat), a fresh graduate from the Faculty of Forestry, gets stationed to work in a watershed forest in her hometown. She is thrilled to finally do the job she has dreamed of since childhood. However, her father, Sutin (Pop Phonrat), a forestry officer nearing retirement, is displeased that his daughter has to do the same exhausting, difficult, and highly dangerous job as him. Manow adapts easily to the work. Her very first step into the station involves paying her respects to the portrait of His Majesty the King, which serves as a massive inspiration for her mission.
While surveying her jurisdiction, Manow encounters Rat (Weerapap), a young businessman, in the forest. Manow accuses Rat of forest encroachment and vows to take legal action. Neither backs down, as Rat claims he bought the land to start a rubber plantation. Manow reports this to her boss, Chief Khem (New Wongsakorn), but he tells her to drop it, warning that pursuing the matter would cause trouble for everyone. Rat continues to expand his fully integrated rubber business, completely unaware that the land was acquired illegally and is situated right next to the King's Commemorative Forest. Later, during a patrol, Manow catches her childhood friend Santi (Pattaradet Sa-nguankwamdee) illegally logging. She is shocked and deeply frustrated when the familiar local villagers surround her and refuse to let her arrest him.
Teacher Pin (Kwan Usamanee), a passionate newly-graduated teacher who recently moved to the forest village, hastily rides her bicycle to inform the forestry station. A panicked Sutin rushes in to rescue his daughter from the mob of villagers, forcing them to let Santi go. Devastated that she has to surrender to wrongdoers despite her intention to protect the nation's resources, Manow asks her father: what is the point of having civil servants if they can't bring criminals to justice? Sutin shows her his old gunshot wound, explaining that this is exactly why he didn't want her doing this job. Instead of being deterred, Manow becomes even more fired up, vowing to protect the watershed forest with her life. She finds a strong ally in Teacher Pin, as both women share the same unwavering ideals.
Manow emails Por (Oun Preeyanuch) requesting book donations so she and Teacher Pin can educate the local children about nature and forest conservation. Manow even uses her own money to fund the project and raise awareness among the villagers. While some villagers see the project's value and join in, they are a minority compared to those who work for Rat's rubber plantation. Rat bluntly tells Manow that her activities are a complete failure because they don't make the villagers rich, but Manow refuses to give up.
Manow and Teacher Pin gain another ally when Narisara (Fai Nichanun), a female reporter, arrives to cover the deforestation of the watershed forest. She wants to broadcast the forest's plight to the entire country but is constantly obstructed by local mafia boss Hia Yu (Jirasak Pinsuwan). Upon receiving intel that a group of loggers is coming to illegally cut down precious Siamese rosewood, Manow organizes a team to catch them. Sutin follows to protect his daughter. At the same time, Rat, who wants to uncover the truth about the forest Manow is fighting for, secretly follows them up the mountain.
Hia Yu's men start a wildfire to block Manow's team. Manow, Narisara, and the others risk their lives trying to put out the flames. Teacher Pin fiercely scolds Chief Khem for just standing by and watching his subordinates risk their lives. Feeling guilty, Khem contacts the royal artificial rainmaking unit, which successfully extinguishes the fire. Manow, Rat, Sutin, and Narisara survive the ordeal battered and bruised. Afterward, Chief Khem suspends Manow from duty. During her suspension, she repeatedly watches video clips of His Majesty the King's royal speeches concerning forest conservation. Seeking solace, Manow heads up into the forest, with Rat following to comfort her, as he now knows the dark truth behind the community's land.
While taking shelter from heavy rain in the forest, the two hear a landslide. They rush down to help the villagers whose homes are being swept away by the mudslide. Kamnan (Headman) Yu runs around frantically searching for his beloved missing granddaughter. Manow manages to pull the girl from the rubble, while Rat sustains injuries during the rescue.
The devastating tragedy makes everyone in the community realize the fatal consequences of deforestation. Rat leads his workers to plant replacement trees in the royal commemorative forest. Manow, Narisara, and Teacher Pin bring the villagers along to help plant the saplings. Kamnan Yu finally abandons his corrupt ways and willingly joins the villagers in planting trees. Seeing her dedication, Sutin no longer forbids Manow from fulfilling her duties as a forestry officer. To encourage her, he takes off his necklace featuring an old one-baht coin (bearing the King's image) and places it around Manow's neck, giving her the ultimate inspiration to continue her noble work.
