Synopsis
The two sisters, Chaweewan (Kwan Usamanee Vaithayanon) and Dawan (Now Tisanart Sornsuek), are the fiercely protected daughters of Siri (Jib Chalermporn Pumphanwong), a wealthy businessman with multiple ventures in Chiang Mai. Both girls attend the same university. Being beautiful, they naturally attract many suitors, including Chalit (Aof Chanapol Satya) and Danai (Guy Nawapol Wattanapanich).
Danai and Chalit are senior architecture students. Because of Danai's arrogant and teasing demeanor, Chaweewan dislikes him and tries to keep him away from her younger sister, Dawan. Since Danai is handsome and has many girls swooning over him, Chaweewan fears he will end up breaking Dawan's heart. This overprotectiveness frequently causes the two sisters to clash. Dawan, in turn, dislikes Chalit, the cheeky guy who is constantly flirting with Chaweewan.
Among Chaweewan’s suitors is Kimchi (Moo Theerapat Yamsri), a persistent guy obsessed with everything Korean who constantly flatters her with sickeningly sweet words. Even Jae (Manaow Sornsin Maneewan), Chaweewan's best friend, is exhausted by Kimchi's relentless pursuit. Dawan also has a persistent suitor: Boonting (Aun Peerawit Bunnag), a devout, rustic country boy. Chaweewan actually prefers Boonting for her sister, believing him to be sincere and harmless compared to Danai. To get back at her sister, Dawan playfully encourages Kimchi to pursue Chaweewan even harder.
One day, Chaweewan catches Dawan secretly meeting Danai against her orders and issues an ultimatum forbidding any further contact. In a fit of anger, Dawan blurts out that she will marry Danai the moment she graduates, and if anyone tries to stop her, she will elope with him. Hearing this, Chaweewan threatens back: if Dawan marries a man she hates, then she will marry Chalit, the man Dawan despises.
When their father, Siri, hears about this, he plans to meet Danai and Chalit to persuade them not to rush into marriage. However, Danai and Chalit end up getting Siri drunk, and in his intoxicated state, he unwittingly promises his daughters to them. Once sober, Siri is scolded by his daughters, who confess they only made those threats to spite each other. Siri decides to flee with his daughters back to Chiang Mai. Meanwhile, Danai and Chalit arrive with the traditional engagement procession, only to find the house empty. Furious, the two young men investigate and track Siri to Nam Pod Village, where Siri Farm is located.
There, they meet the locals, who are notorious for being unreliable, especially Thong-in (Woraprot Cha-em), a roadside innkeeper known as the deadpan liar. When Thong-in learns they are there to claim their brides, he suggests they just abduct the girls. Danai and Chalit disguise themselves as farmhands at Siri's farm to learn the escape routes.
Meanwhile, Thanawat (Mik Thongraya) and Phanit (Ket Taraket Phetsuksai), two wealthy playboys who treat women like toys, meet Chaweewan and Dawan and immediately desire them. However, their money and influence fail to impress the sisters, who find the two men highly obnoxious. The girls only tolerate them because their father asks them to.
Seeing Thanawat and Phanit getting closer to the girls, Danai and Chalit become intensely jealous. Fearing they will lose their loves, they decide to strike quickly. Consulting with Thong-in, they plan a kidnapping. They sneak into the sisters' bedroom, throw sacks over their heads, and drag them to the car. But the girls' screams wake Siri and the workers, who give chase. Danai and Chalit are forced to split up and flee with the girls, still hooded.
Once safely away from the farm, Danai realizes the woman he kidnapped isn't Dawan, but Chaweewan. Chalit nearly faints when he discovers he has abducted Dawan instead. They are forced to keep running, planning to swap their respective lovers at Thong-in’s inn later.
Danai and Chaweewan run aimlessly into the forest, while Chalit and Dawan get lost deep in another part of the jungle. When Thanawat and Phanit find out, they vow to hunt the men down and punish them. They form a search party guided by A-Lu (M.L. Piyachan Prawit), a hill-tribe tracker who frequently leads them astray. The group splits into two. A-Lu tracks the torn pieces of cloth Chaweewan left as a trail.
Chaweewan tries to escape while Danai is sleeping, but he wakes up and catches her just as A-Lu leads Thanawat to them. Thanawat maniacally opens fire on Danai, forcing Siri to intervene out of fear for his daughter. Danai grabs Chaweewan and runs, but Thanawat's bullet grazes Danai's shoulder. Seeing Danai bleed, Chaweewan blocks Thanawat from firing again. Realizing she risked her life for him, Danai feels guilty and decides to run away alone. Knowing he is injured, Chaweewan refuses to abandon him and chases after him. When Danai reaches a cliffside and tells her to go back, she grabs his hand, and they jump, sliding down the slope into the river below.
Elsewhere, the deeper Chalit and Dawan go into the forest, the more lost they become. Dawan, a spoiled youngest child, starts throwing a tantrum. Knowing she is terrified of ghosts, Chalit threatens to abandon her in the haunted forest, effectively silencing her.
Danai and Chaweewan wash up on the riverbank. Danai is deeply touched that she followed him out of concern for his injury. Feeling guilty for dragging her into hardship, he decides to take her home and accept his punishment. Simultaneously, Chalit determines to get Dawan out of the forest before she loses her mind.
However, things are not so simple. As Chalit and Danai lead the girls back, they run into Siri's search party. Thanawat and Phanit order their men to tie up Danai and Chalit for punishment. Suddenly, a terrifying event occurs: a half-man, half-beast monster attacks the camp. Everyone scatters in panic. Chaweewan and Dawan secretly untie Danai and Chalit, and they flee to the river, letting the current sweep them away. Exhausted, they wash ashore and fall asleep. The girls are later awakened by a hill-tribe boy named Da-nao (Nong Deaw Pattanadon Kliangjan), only to find Danai and Chalit missing. Da-nao suspects they were taken by the women of the mythical hidden city (Muang Lap Lae). Chaweewan and Dawan disguise themselves as men and successfully infiltrate the city to rescue them.
Realizing the situation is escalating, Siri orders his trusted man, Suphap (Jim Chuanchuen), to return to the farm and call the police. There, Suphap runs into Kimchi, Boonting, and Oob-ib (Pla Parita Kosolsak), Thanawat's younger sister who secretly loves Danai. The three insist on joining the rescue mission to save the people they love, regardless of the danger.
Fate plays another joke, causing the couples to mix up again as they wander through the forest. Danai and Chaweewan fall into a valley and are captured by ape-men. They are taken to a cursed ancient city where the inhabitants are doomed to remain ape-men until a couple with pure love lifts the curse. The tribal chief declares they are true soulmates and forces them into a marriage ceremony, stating they must have a child to break the curse. Left with no choice, they go through the ceremony.
Before things go too far, Da-nao arrives just in time to save them. Meanwhile, Chalit and Dawan wander into a border conflict between minority groups and are captured by the Red Karen, who lock them in a water prison to be fed to crocodiles. They are rescued by the White Karen and brought to Winya (Green Ausadaporn Siriwattanakul), a young woman who took over leadership of the White Karen after her father was killed by the Red Karen. Sympathizing with her, Chalit and Dawan help her devise a battle strategy that defeats the Red Karen. In return, Winya escorts them toward Nam Pod Village.
During the journey, Dawan becomes secretly jealous of Chalit's close interactions with Winya. Meanwhile, Siri's group, along with Kimchi, Boonting, and Oob-ib, encounter numerous supernatural events in the "Dong Phee Fa" (Spirit Forest). The more Siri sees Thanawat and Phanit's true, malicious nature, the more disgusted he becomes, completely changing his mind about wanting them as sons-in-law.
Winya accidentally leads Chalit and Dawan to cross paths with Danai, Chaweewan, and Da-nao. They discover that Winya and Da-nao are siblings. The siblings intend to safely escort the four back home. However, they stumble upon Thanawat and Phanit conducting an illegal logging operation. Suddenly, Thong-in and the villagers arrive with a plan, successfully taking down the illegal operation and ensuring Thanawat and Phanit face severe legal consequences.
Chaweewan and Dawan return home safely. Conceding to love, Siri arranges a double wedding for Danai & Dawan and Chalit & Chaweewan, unaware that the four have had a change of heart. However, none of them are willing to confess the truth, feeling too ashamed to admit they have fallen in love with the other person.
Will these four be able to find a way out for their true feelings? Find out in the drama "Hob Ruk Ma Hom Pa" (Bringing Love to Blanket the Forest), airing every Monday and Tuesday at 8:25 PM on Channel 7. The first episode premieres on Tuesday, December 6, 2011.
