Peesua Lae Dokmai

This is the life story of a boy who, at only 13 years old, is forced to leave school because of his family’s poverty. Hูยัน is an excellent student who has always ranked first in his class. But he decides not to continue into Grade 5, choosing instead to become an ice cream seller in order to help ease his father’s burden and allow his younger brother and sister to attend school.
His family is extremely poor. They do not even own a home and must live on temple land. No matter how poor they are, however, there is one thing his father has always taught him: to preserve his dignity and never beg from anyone. Because of this, Hูยัน must work very hard.
But when the school closes, he is able to sell much less ice cream. For that reason, he has to look for a new way forward. Mimpi, a former classmate who has also left school to help her mother sell goods, becomes the one who accidentally leads him out into the wider world. By chance, the two of them end up riding a train together all the way to a house near the border...
