Synopsis
“Phleng Rak Rim Khop Fa” is a melodrama set in the music industry, centered on scandal, family power struggles, and tangled romance.
Nira (Napapa Tantrakul), the superstar singer of Ploen Records, performs at a concert attended by her cousin Kidakarn (Pornchita Na Songkhla) and her mother Yanee. Unbeknownst to them, backstage Nira is being hounded by reporters over rumors that she is pregnant. At the post-concert press conference, Nira announces that she is about to marry Ben (Varintr Panhakarn), the son of Charlotte, the last wife of Bandit, founder of Ploen Records, the label she belongs to. Ben is the younger half-brother of Borom (Montri Janeaksorn), the son of Bandit’s first wife, Ploen.
The reporters swarm Nira with questions, asking whether she became pregnant before marriage, which she denies, while Anchalee (Benchasiri Wattana), the company manager, handles the press. Outside, Kidakarn confronts Ben about when he plans to marry Nira, but Ben bluntly asks why he should marry at all. Kidakarn immediately despises him, believing he is irresponsibly refusing to accept the baby in Nira’s womb. Their argument escalates until Bun (Apinun Prasertwattanakul), the editor of an entertainment magazine, Burim (Phitsanu Nimsakul), a veteran producer, and Buabutsaba (Apisara Chaivong), a vocal coach — all children of Bandit’s second wife Thip — step in to stop them. Meanwhile, Jade (Panita Phatthanahiran), a beautiful PR woman secretly in love with Ben, carries the gossip to the press. As the eldest son and child of the legal wife, Borom considers himself superior and constantly intimidates his siblings while also controlling Ploen Records.
To suppress the scandal linking Nira to Duangrit (Chokchai Boonworamethi), nicknamed Duang, a singer from a rival label, Borom forces Ben to bring Nira to live in his house. Nira asks Kidakarn to come stay with her, and soon after Yanee leaves for America. But once Nira moves in, Ben escapes abroad so he does not have to live under the same roof with her, making Kidakarn dislike him even more. She is left to fend off reporters, keep order in the house, and prepare Nira for motherhood — though Nira has little interest in any of it and instead enjoys manipulating the press to increase her fame.
Bua warns Nira that Borom is crafty and urges her to return to her own home, but Nira ignores her. Meanwhile, Bee (Thakoon Karnthip), Borom’s only son, returns from abroad and is about to release an album. Borom gathers top songwriters and producers to support him, with Burim assigned as producer, but Bee’s spoiled and self-centered behavior makes the task difficult.
When Ben comes back, he is furious to find that Nira is still in the house and orders her to leave. Kidakarn scolds him for being indifferent to Nira, and Ben snaps back that she knows nothing. Tired of everything, Nira arranges a night out with her friends Joy (Jeeranun Preedakul) and Ohm (Sutthirak Bamrungyat). Drunk and careless about the baby in her womb, she runs into Duang, whom Joy and Ohm had also invited. A reporter spots them together, and when the paparazzi chase them, Nira and Duang hide in a storage room. In the charged atmosphere, they kiss — and Duang secretly records the moment on video. Kidakarn, searching for Nira, eventually finds her at the pub and brings her home.
The next day, Nira sneaks off to Duang’s condo. The two nearly sleep together, but Nira stops at the last moment. Duang then learns she is pregnant. Nira tells him she does not love Ben and even dares Duang to prove himself by taking a photo of them affectionately touching cheeks together on his phone. Later, while Nira follows Ben to work, Bee comes to see Ben about helping critique his songs. Ben asks point-blank whether Bee is the father of Nira’s baby. Bee denies it, sneering that Nira has slept with half the industry anyway, and says his father went too far in forcing Ben to take responsibility — that they should just make Nira get an abortion. Ben is deeply disappointed by Bee.
Nira starts acting possessive toward Ben, which enrages Jade and leads to a violent fight between the two women. Unable to stand it any longer, Ben tells Kidakarn to take Nira and leave his house, and Nira actually does. Ben and Kidakarn then scramble to find her. Nira agrees to return only if Ben no longer treats her with disgust, because she wants the media to see them as a genuinely loving couple. Ben complies, though Kidakarn feels hurt and struggles to suppress those feelings.
Jade gives the press a story claiming Nira slapped her, making front-page news. Anchalee moves to deny it. Duang, meanwhile, shows the secret video clip to Hia Chet (Oliver Beaver), owner of rival label Aladdin Records, who orders it leaked to destroy Nira’s reputation. Kidakarn blames Ben for neglecting Nira and letting her grow so lonely that she turned to Duang. In the middle of their argument, Ben angrily kisses Kidakarn. She slaps him and accuses him of taking advantage. Ben later apologizes and explains that he could never marry Nira because he is not truly the baby’s father. At last the two understand one another better and grow closer. Ben asks Kidakarn to move back into the house to help care for Nira, and she agrees, partly because she still worries about her cousin. Nira, however, fears that if she actually gives birth, she will lose leverage in demanding things for herself.
Borom later confides to Anchalee that the child in Nira’s womb is actually Bee’s. He is desperate to protect his son’s future now that the album is about to launch. Meanwhile, Anchalee spreads a false story that Nira got pregnant by Duang and then had an abortion, prompting Hia Chet to arrange a press conference. Duang dismisses the matter by saying they are just friends. At the same time, Bua uncovers evidence that Anchalee was the one who leaked the clip and tells Nira that Borom must be behind it.
Nira confronts Borom with a trump card: a video showing Bee doing drugs and selling them at the music school. Fearful for his son’s future, Borom gives in. Bee goes after Nira demanding to know who filmed the incriminating clip. Realizing matters are closing in on her, Nira claims that Bua made the recording and demands that Bee secretly register a marriage with her in exchange. Bee has no choice but to agree. Nira also falsely accuses Kidakarn of conspiring with Bua, claiming that Kidakarn’s relationship with Ben was part of Bua’s plan to blackmail Borom. Ben refuses to marry Nira, and Borom finally tells him the truth: Nira is after shares in Ploen Records. Ben is shocked and angrily rebukes Nira for slandering Kidakarn, leaving Kidakarn deeply hurt.
Bee, in a rage, threatens to kill Bua unless she hands over the clip. Bua then reveals the truth: she filmed it because she wanted revenge after Borom raped her. Everyone is stunned. Bee turns on his father, telling him that karma has finally caught up with him. Meanwhile, Burim offers to claim paternity of Nira’s child, but Nira insults and rejects him, leading to another fight. Kidakarn and Ben intervene just in time and rush Nira to the hospital when she goes into labor.
Back at the company, Borom returns hoping Anchalee will fix the scandal, only to find her resignation letter instead.
Kidakarn faithfully looks after Nira until she gives birth to a son. Around the same time, Bee opens his grand concert, but after only a short time on stage, police storm backstage to arrest him after receiving the drug video — leaked by none other than Anchalee, who has now resigned and joined rival label Aladdin as head of public relations. Bee is sent to reform school for two years. Borom, finally remorseful for his actions, divides the company shares equally among the siblings, resigns as chairman, and appoints Ben to take over management, supported by Bun and Burim. Bua then brings Kidakarn in to help run the music school.
Unable to bear the weight of what she has done — using her child as a bargaining tool, and becoming the target of public outrage over the scandal — Nira leaves the entertainment industry and goes to America to live with her mother. Before departing, she takes her baby to visit Bee, who has also come to repent, and she is willing to give him another chance.
In the end, Ben proposes to Kidakarn, and she accepts. After Bee is released from reform school, he flies to America to reunite with Nira and their child, and they quietly marry there. Ben and Kidakarn attend the wedding too, bringing along their own child to celebrate with the couple.
