Synopsis
Dab Jet See Manee Jet Sang (Seven-Colored Sword, Seven-Rayed Jewel): The city of Chandranakhon was plagued by severe hardship, famine, drought, and starving citizens. King Chandrathit had a dream in which a giant skeleton appeared and told him that to save the kingdom, he must find the "Seven-Colored Sword." Kraidech, the eldest prince, volunteered to embark on the quest. It was agreed that if he did not return within one year, his younger twin brother, Prince Petchara, would go after him.
A year passed, and Kraidech still had not returned. Thus, Petchara set out to search for his brother and the Seven-Colored Sword, accompanied by his loyal royal page, Kaew. Along the journey, Petchara encountered five benevolent hermits—Ohm, Su, Ji, Pu, and Li. They enchanted a magic talking cane for him; reciting the names of the five hermits would turn the cane into a flying horse, and reciting them backward would turn it back into a cane. They also gave Kaew a magic glass orb that, when kept in his mouth, granted his body extreme flexibility.
Prince Petchara and Kaew eventually wandered into the territory of the Garuda-Human realm. The Garuda Lord cursed them, turning one into a monkey and the other into a dog, to prevent his daughter from suffering heartbreak over humans. His daughter, Suwanmalai, was born to a human mother. Upon seeing Suwanmalai, Petchara instantly fell in love and revealed to her that he had been cursed by her father. Suwanmalai found a way to break the curse and managed to return the magic cane to him.
When she successfully reversed the curse and turned Petchara and Kaew back into their human forms, she was startled, having never seen a human man before. Petchara courted her and told her he would wait for her in the garden, but Suwanmalai refused to come down to meet him. Consequently, Petchara disguised himself as a lady-in-waiting to sneak up to her bedchamber. The two spent several days together until the real ladies-in-waiting grew suspicious and reported it to the Garuda Lord.
The Garuda Lord discovered that Petchara had been sneaking in to see his daughter. Petchara fled the Garuda-Human city, but the Garuda Lord caught up to him, leading to a fierce battle. Petchara was no match for the Garuda Lord's storm magic, but Suwanmalai intervened, throwing herself into the storm to protect him. Forced to relent, the Garuda Lord spared Petchara's life and agreed to arrange their wedding. However, Petchara requested to first complete his quest to find his brother and the sword. The Garuda Lord let him go on the condition that he promised to return for Suwanmalai.
Prince Petchara and Kaew continued their journey, battling numerous ghosts and demons along the way. They eventually reached a desolate, arid land with no water or food, and ultimately collapsed from exhaustion. When they regained consciousness, they found themselves being cared for in a peculiar city where all the inhabitants—even the soldiers—were women. The only male in the entire city was its ruler.
They learned that this city was called Nakorn Nemin, and the ruler had a daughter named Wanalee. At first, Wanalee mistook Petchara for Kraidech, who had previously traveled through the city, but upon closer inspection, she realized he was someone else. When Petchara flirted with Wanalee, she remarked that he looked exactly like someone she had met about a year ago. Knowing she meant Kraidech, Petchara eagerly asked her where his brother was.
