Synopsis

Kanlaykamon, a twenty-year-old girl who lost her mother, is a second-year university student. She lives with her father, Mr. Keng, her stepmother Wipa, and her six-year-old half-brother Nong Korn. Wipa refuses to let Kan continue her studies, claiming there is not enough money and that whatever money they have should be spent only on Korn’s education, insisting Kan sacrifice for him. So Kan comes up with a plan with her close friend Ai Thok, a motorcycle-taxi driver, with Korn helping as well. She rents-to-own a motorcycle from Sia Liang’s shop. Kan then supports herself and pays for her own education by working as a motorcycle-taxi driver, delivering documents, and even taking pet dogs to the vet. Sometimes she gets harassed by street-racing teens, but she always manages to get through it because her fellow motorcycle-taxi drivers come to help. When Wipa finds out, she takes Kan’s earnings for herself. If Kan refuses, Wipa lies to Keng and says Kan has behaved badly. Korn always tries to defend his sister, but Keng never listens, so Kan is constantly punished by her father. Whenever she feels sad, Kan often takes Korn to the clock tower, where she pours out her feelings.
Pransom is the son of an immensely wealthy family—so rich that even ten lifetimes wouldn’t be enough to spend it all. He is studying for a master’s degree but is called back home to help manage the family business by his father, Mr. Danai, who is suffering from cancer. Pransom does not want to return because he is happy with Nareenuch, the woman he loves and intends to marry after graduation. He thinks that if his father recovers, he will return to continue his studies. Pransom is very different from his mother Khun Ying Nualkhae, his elder sister Wimonkhae, and his younger brother Nop. He is down-to-earth, while the others are arrogant and assume everyone wants to marry into their family. Pransom behaves dutifully despite being unhappy, and on top of that, he is pressured into a match with Dueanchai, the daughter of Dueantem, Nualkhae’s close friend, who runs a gemstone business in another province and has bought Dueanchai a house in Bangkok to live in alone.
Dueantem’s business is actually declining, though she hides the truth. After being injured in a car accident, she makes a dying request and reminds the family of a promise that Dueanchai would marry Pransom. Pransom is stunned because he has never heard of this before and hesitates, but Nualkhae and Wimonkhae quickly agree. Dueanchai is overjoyed, and Dueantem dies in peace. Afterward, Dueanchai constantly invites Pransom to her house, trying to seduce him.
Meanwhile, Wipa borrows money from loan sharks run by Sia Liang and mortgages the house, but she cannot keep up with the interest. Sia Liang comes to the house with his henchmen to beat Wipa and Keng. Kan and Korn arrive and intervene. Sia Liang is delighted to discover that Kan is Keng’s daughter. He stops demanding repayment and instead starts visiting from morning till night, bringing gifts. Eventually, he makes a deal with Wipa: if she gives Kan to him, he will forgive the entire debt and even add extra money. Kan refuses, but she pities her father, who is being beaten and threatened over the debt. Forced by threats to their lives, Kan reluctantly agrees. But Korn says he has a plan to stop Sia Liang from touching Kan—he tells her to wait until the actual wedding day, and to make sure Sia Liang first returns the land title deed and tears up the loan contract.
As for Pransom, unable to speak openly about the marriage arrangement, he secretly rides around on a motorcycle he bought, with a sidecar attached for Nong King, a little girl who likes tagging along with him. They often pass by a clock tower out of town. Each time they pass, Pransom notices a young woman sitting there looking sorrowful and lost in thought. He finds it strange, recognizes her face, but never stops to speak to her. Meanwhile, Nong King often drops snack bags or cups from her hand, and they always end up hitting Korn on the head. If it is water, Korn waves his arms and yells after her; if it is snacks, he just eats them. The two children constantly stick out their tongues and make faces at each other.
Then comes the unbelievable day: both weddings happen on the same day, at the same time, only in different places. At Kan’s ceremony, she receives an engagement ring, gold as bride price, and the land deed and loan papers are returned to her father and stepmother. The marriage registration is about to begin, waiting only for the district officer. Earlier, Korn had told Thok to inform all five or six of Sia Liang’s minor wives and arrange motorcycle transport for them to come storm the wedding. Korn himself then whispers to Sia Liang that he is not really Wipa’s son, but Kan’s son. Sia Liang is stunned, and the district officer hesitates. Then the group of wives bursts in and wrecks the ceremony. Kan and Korn escape on their trusty motorcycle, fleeing the wedding with no idea where to go.
Pransom faces the same kind of chaos. After giving the ring and dowry, he waits for the district officer to register the marriage. But earlier, Nong King has already sneaked away and called Dueanchai, pretending to be Pransom’s daughter, saying that she and her mother are already at the ceremony and are ready to ruin it. Dueanchai is shaken to the core. When she sees a guest who has brought a child to the event, she attacks, accusing them of trying to destroy the ceremony, causing total confusion. Seizing the chance, Nong King grabs Pransom’s hand and pulls him away. They flee on his motorcycle, speeding away from the wedding without direction.
By the time Sia Liang realizes Korn tricked him and manages to calm down his five wives, Kan and Korn have disappeared. The same goes for Pransom’s family—by the time they realize someone, likely Nong King, played a prank call that led them to attack innocent people, it is too late. Meanwhile, Kan is fleeing on her motorcycle, escorted and protected by a convoy of motorcycle-taxi drivers led by Thok.
After emotional goodbyes, everyone gives Korn and Kan some money they have earned through hard work. Kan says she will hide out somewhere else and call later with news. Then she rides off, still unsure where to go, thinking she will try to find a rental house. She drives absentmindedly, tears running down her face. At the same time, Pransom is also riding in frustration. Rain threatens, the sky grows dark, and on a narrow road, Kan’s motorcycle and Pransom’s motorcycle approach each other from opposite directions. A bolt of lightning flashes with a deafening crack. Blinded, the two collide and both fall. When the flash passes, they are found sprawled on the ground tangled together, while the two children have also fallen into a heap. Pransom recognizes Kan as the girl he used to see at the clock tower. The two children recognize each other too and jump up to start fighting. The adults try to separate them, but the children will not stop. Another flash of lightning strikes, and the adults finally manage to pull their younger companions apart, only to start arguing with each other themselves. Then the children step in to stop the adults. Exhausted, everyone finally gives up fighting and starts asking each other questions instead.
Korn introduces himself as Kan’s son, shocking Pransom. Meanwhile, King says she is Pransom’s younger sister. The children then go off to sit and eat snacks being sold nearby. Pransom and Kan glare at each other in annoyance. But the two children make friends and talk, eventually learning about each other’s troubles. They come up with a solution: Kan and Korn will have a place to stay, and Pransom will be able to fool everyone into believing he really has a wife and child—Kan and Korn. That way, if Sia Liang finds Kan again, he cannot claim her anymore because she already has a husband, and Korn will have “found” his real father in Pransom.
The children present this proposal to Pransom and Kan. At first both reject it, but after thinking it over, Pransom agrees, and eventually Kan agrees too, on the condition that the marriage is in name only. So they all go and register the marriage, then return to Pransom’s family home in Bangkok.
Nualkhae, Wimonkhae, and Nop are shocked and furious. But instead of blaming Pransom, they take it out on Kan, accusing her of being a widow with a child who is trying to trap Pransom into marriage. Dueanchai is enraged that her future husband has been taken away right before her eyes, and she can hardly believe Pransom’s story. Kan’s life in Pransom’s house is extremely difficult. She is looked down on and mistreated. Pransom takes her to sleep in the same room as him, though his room has a separate study, so there is no real issue. Nualkhae and Wimonkhae often summon Kan, offer her money, and tell her to leave their house. Korn refuses to let her give in and urges her to fight, because both he and King believe the two adults are truly meant for each other. Kan is harassed from all sides, but she dares not go far, because Thok tells her that both her stepmother and Sia Liang are turning the world upside down trying to find her and Korn.
As for Nop, he secretly grows fond of Kan, but Pransom warns him off, clearly jealous. Since his mother and sister are watching him closely, Nop turns to Thipphayachan, a massage therapist. She becomes pregnant and shows up at the family house with the child in her womb, refusing to leave, leaving Nualkhae speechless. Pransom feels sorry for the unborn baby and allows her to stay. But Thipphayachan then secretly develops a crush on Pransom, thinking he would make a better man than Nop. At the same time, Dueanchai continues appearing and insisting she is Pransom’s true number one. Later, Nareenuch, Pransom’s real beloved, also arrives, creating a tangled love polygon involving Dueanchai, Nareenuch, sometimes Thipphayachan, and dragging Kan into the mess every single time.
Despite Pransom’s attempts to give her money, Kan refuses to take it, believing that simply having shelter and food is enough. Instead, she goes out to find work, returning to her old job as a motorcycle-taxi driver, document courier, and dog transporter. She frequently clashes with the motorcycle-taxi stand at the mouth of the alley because she does not have an official rider’s vest, so King and Korn secretly ask Pransom for money to buy her one and tell her she can repay him later. When Nualkhae, Wimonkhae, and Nop learn that Kan is secretly doing this work, they are furious and ashamed and forbid it outright, but Kan refuses to listen, saying it is her right.
It turns out that Dueanchai is actually related to Sia Liang, and she learns about all this by chance. She quickly reports it to him. Sia Liang informs Wipa, and the two of them try to reclaim Kan, but fail. Then Wipa notices that Pransom is much richer than Sia Liang and starts distancing herself from Sia Liang. When that fails, Sia Liang and Dueanchai join forces to attack Kan, but Kan is protected by the army of motorcycle-taxi drivers.
Wimonkhae goes into business with her close friend Mom Duangkaew, the wife of Than Chai Suksom, but trouble breaks out because she schemes to snatch the prince-consort. Instead, she is publicly exposed for having a child—Little King—and refusing to acknowledge her, leaving her mother to raise the girl out of shame. Little King is deeply hurt and runs away from home. Nualkhae is heartbroken because she loves Little King even more than her own children and cannot eat or sleep. Little King then runs into Dueanchai, who makes a plan with Sia Liang to kidnap her for ransom and force Pransom to leave Kan, demanding Kan herself as the exchange. Pransom refuses, but Kan volunteers to trade herself for King’s safety. This act makes Nualkhae and Wimonkhae finally recognize Kan’s goodness.
Korn then teams up with Pransom to rescue Kan, with Thok and the motorcycle-taxi army helping storm the place. In the end, through Kan’s own resourcefulness and the help of Korn, Pransom, and the motorcycle-taxi group, Kan is freed. Sia Liang is arrested, Dueanchai is implicated, Nareenuch gives up, Wimonkhae reconciles with Little King, Nualkhae accepts the truth that Thipphayachan’s child is her own grandchild, and Nop accepts Thipphayachan. But Kan asks for a divorce to restore Pransom’s legal freedom so he can return to Nareenuch. However, Nareenuch instead decides to continue her life abroad because she knows she can no longer win Pransom’s heart. Wipa and Keng apologize to Kan and promise never to mistreat her again.
Kan returns home and resumes her former life—studying, working as a motorcycle-taxi rider, delivering documents, and transporting pet dogs. But one day, through a plan arranged by King and Korn, Kan is called to pick up a dog from a certain house. That house turns out to be Pransom’s house, and the dog belongs to him. Pransom asks Kan to marry him. He confesses that he first became interested in her when he saw her at the clock tower, and that he fell in love with her the moment their motorcycles collided during that flash of lightning—he knew then that she was the one. Kan thinks to herself that she feels the same way, though she does not say it aloud: her love with Pransom truly was love at first lightning strike.
