Nong Sai is the only daughter of Mr. Win Siriwit, a wealthy fruit-orchard owner. She is beautiful, but she was born unable to walk. She has very few friends, except for Pada Apirakphuban, the son of Khunying Amphon and General Phat, who is Mr. Win’s close friend. Nong Sai loves and admires Pada as the hero of her heart. Even though Pada has gone abroad to study for more than ten years, she has never forgotten him and has waited for him all this time. Although a young military officer, Flight Lieutenant Samit Kanchanarat, falls in love with her, she can only offer him friendship and a sibling-like bond.
Seeing that his daughter waits only for Pada, Mr. Win remembers an old agreement he once made with General Phat that the two children would marry in order to settle an 80-million-baht debt. Khunying Amphon is deeply alarmed because she fears losing her assets and the grand Vatcharawet mansion, so she quickly summons Pada home at once. But Pada is already married to Chomphilai, leaving him under great stress. Mr. Win then claims that he is ill and has only one year left to live. Pada feels deeply sorry for Nong Sai. Since Mr. Win supposedly has only one year to live, Khunying Amphon begs Chomphilai to divorce Pada for just one year — otherwise, Pada may lose everything and be left penniless. Chomphilai reluctantly agrees.
After Pada and Nong Sai marry, Pada treats her very well and never touches her. He tells her that once she finds someone truly good, he will divorce her. This deeply hurts Nong Sai. She also has to endure Khunying Amphon’s disdain and Chomphilai’s constant harassment, yet she tries her best to be patient. Pada gradually comes to recognize Nong Sai’s love and devotion. He begins to waver and slowly falls for her.
When Chomphilai realizes this, she sends her older brother Chalermchai to court Nong Sai, hoping to ruin her. Pada becomes so jealous that he loses control and forces himself on Nong Sai. Furious, Nong Sai runs out of the house, and everyone finally discovers that she is no longer disabled as they once believed. Mr. Win had secretly sent her abroad for treatment when she was thirteen, and she was cured. Khunying Amphon is furious and orders Pada to divorce her. But Pada refuses, claiming he must honor his promise to Mr. Win — though the real reason is that he does not want to lose Nong Sai.
Because Pada becomes so focused on Nong Sai, Chomphilai turns back to her ex-husband Boonthert, and the two resume an improper relationship. Their affair is secretly videotaped as evidence. Khunying Amphon keeps reminding Pada that he already has Chomphilai, and that Chomphilai loves him deeply, so he should not entertain improper feelings for Nong Sai. Forced to suppress his feelings, Pada returns to Chomphilai.
Later, Nong Sai learns the truth — that Pada was already married to Chomphilai and had to divorce because of her. She is heartbroken and asks for a divorce. Pada agrees to divorce her without resistance. Afterward, Nong Sai returns to the orchard house and decides to marry Samit in order to forget this love.
Pada then discovers Chomphilai’s affair with Boonthert and breaks up with her. Enraged, Chomphilai blames everything on Nong Sai and orders Chalermchai to have her killed. When Pada learns of this, he rushes to warn Nong Sai. Just as the gunman lies in wait to shoot her, Pada steps in and takes the bullet for her.
Nong Sai is overwhelmed with worry and lovingly watches over Pada as he recovers. Seeing this, Samit finally admits defeat — he knows he can never compete with Pada. He gives up and leaves to live abroad. Pada then confesses his love to Nong Sai and asks her to marry him again.
Khunying Amphon comes to recognize Nong Sai’s goodness and feels guilty that Chomphilai nearly caused her son’s death. At last, she agrees to let Pada and Nong Sai marry happily. Mr. Win finally admits that the 80-million-baht debt was never real. He only intended to give Pada his blessing if Pada truly loved his daughter and did not reject her for being disabled.
Pada and Nong Sai marry and have one child together, living a warm and loving family life ever after.
