Synopsis
Before drawing her last breath, she prayed to be reborn for revenge against him. But he lived only to love her and wait for her alone. Love and vengeance transcend time.
Warada, the daughter of Waree, a secondary wife of General Praphot, slips away from the birthday party of Phanit, the daughter of Khunying Phaka, Praphot’s legal wife. Khunying Phaka and Phanit have never treated Warada as family. Waree always teaches Warada to endure whenever she is insulted by Khunying Phaka. One day, Warada sits reading Jane Eyre, her favorite novel, in the garden near a cork tree. Krit sees Warada for the first time and falls for her immediately. He strikes up a conversation with her and promises to bring her more novels. Warada thanks him and feels happy.
Kuea and Saiphin have three children: Ketmanee, the eldest daughter; Krit, the only son; and Kaemkaew, the spoiled youngest daughter. Kuea is of Chinese descent and has moved next door to Praphot’s house. Khunying Phaka is not pleased about it, but Phanit likes Krit. Phanit is timid and easily led, so she becomes close to the strong-willed and competitive Kaemkaew. Phanit secretly likes Krit, while Kaemkaew secretly likes Piti, a military aide serving under Praphot. Piti is a gentleman and often escorts both Phanit and Kaemkaew when they go shopping. Kaemkaew dislikes Warada because she knows Piti likes Warada.
Krit invites Warada to walk in the garden at his house by slipping through a crumbling wall between their homes. Warada asks him about the air-raid shelter in his house, but Krit does not know where it is. Together they search for it and climb down into it. Before returning home, Krit asks Warada to promise that they will meet again, but she does not answer. Piti secretly goes to see Warada in the backyard, only to find her with Krit. Heartbroken, he drives away and crashes into Ketmanee’s car. Angry, he speaks harshly to her, but later, realizing his mistake, he apologizes. One day, Piti’s mother meets Ketmanee at the market and takes a liking to her. She then encourages Piti to court Ketmanee.
Kaemkaew visits Phanit and sees Warada talking to the gardener. The two girls accuse Warada of being shameless and report her to Praphot and Khunying Phaka. But when they return, the man is actually Krit. Krit accepts the blame for everything and asks Kuea to formally seek Warada’s hand in marriage for him. Ketmanee tells Piti about Krit’s plan to marry Warada, and in doing so learns that Piti once loved Warada, while Kaemkaew also loves Piti. Thinking herself out of place, Ketmanee considers giving him up, but Piti pursues her, apologizes, and confesses his love. In the end, Ketmanee agrees to marry him. When Kaemkaew finds out, she cannot accept it and accuses Ketmanee of stealing Piti away. So Piti and Ketmanee decide to move to Phetchabun.
Since the incident in the garden, Warada has not been able to see Krit because Khunying Phaka, Kaemkaew, and Phanit all keep them apart. Warada is overworked until she falls ill. Krit wants to speak to her whenever he sees her, but things only get worse. Khunying Phaka says things that make Krit suspect Warada is pregnant. He does not want to believe it. Meanwhile, Warada thinks Krit has turned his attention to Phanit. The two misunderstand each other. On the last day they meet, Krit asks Warada to meet him in the back garden. Warada rushes to finish her chores so she can go. But when she arrives, Krit is nowhere to be found. Instead, someone strikes her on the neck with a piece of wood. Warada believes only that Krit has harmed her. Worse still, she is locked inside the air-raid shelter, where she slowly starves. Before she dies, she vows that she will return to take revenge on the one who caused her such a painful death.
Years later, Monthira and Nikorn have a daughter named Nutthamon, a girl born with special powers that allow her to move objects. Whenever she has nightmares, things around her begin to float, frightening her parents. But because she is still very young, they do not take her to a doctor. One day Monthira takes the toddler Nutthamon to offer alms to a wandering monk. The monk warns Monthira to raise the child well and to teach her forgiveness, for the sake of Nutthamon’s future.
Even as Nutthamon grows older, the nightmares continue. Monthira remains careful not to frighten her and constantly teaches her to forgive. But the older Nutthamon gets, the less obedient she becomes, causing her mother great worry. When Nutthamon starts school, she dislikes a classmate named Tisorn, nicknamed Toei, the son of a powerful politician. Tisorn likes pulling girls’ hair. One day he pulls Nutthamon’s hair, enraging her, and she uses her powers, injuring him far more than he injured her. Monthira realizes Nutthamon is responsible and demands that she swear never to do it again. Nutthamon refuses, and mother and daughter quarrel. Later, Nikorn dies in a car accident. Nutthamon senses his death beforehand and rushes home to be with Monthira before Nikorn’s colleague even calls to inform them.
After finishing ninth grade, Nutthamon tells Monthira she wants to continue her studies in secretarial training, without revealing the true reason: something is drawing her there. Monthira cannot stop her and lets her go. Even Tisorn, who has now become Nutthamon’s close friend, regrets seeing her waste her academic ability.
On her first day at school, Nutthamon meets a new friend, Klika, also called Thungpaeng, the daughter of Ketmanee and Piti. Nutthamon also comes to know Krit, Klika’s uncle. The moment she sees him, she knows he is the one she has returned to take revenge on. Nutthamon sits reading Jane Eyre, which confuses Klika, who wonders why she is reading such an old novel. But Nutthamon feels no sympathy for the story; she sees Jane Eyre as a foolish woman who let herself be deceived and abandoned by a man, just as Warada foolishly let Krit deceive her and died because of him. Klika’s friends often ask about Krit, and even Nutthamon, who has never met him before, asks about him so often that the others are puzzled. Nutthamon then says she is interested in Krit. Klika hopes this is true, because she does not want Krit to end up with Panita, a widow who has been chasing him for a long time.
Krit has remained alone because he has never forgotten Warada. When he comes to pick up Klika from school, he sees Nutthamon and is shocked, thinking she is Warada. At the same time, Tisorn comes to pick up Nutthamon and takes an interest in Klika. Nutthamon helps him because she knows both of them are good people. Nutthamon dresses up to attend Klika’s birthday party at Krit’s house. When she arrives, she is startled to find that Krit’s house is now a traditional Thai house — her old home. Asking Klika about it, she learns that Krit bought the house after everyone there had died, while using another house as his office.
Nutthamon does not see Krit at the party because he is sick and cannot come downstairs. Krit, however, sees Nutthamon walking in the garden but cannot call out to her in time, and accidentally bumps into the table holding Klika’s birthday cake. Kaemkaew blames Klika, but Krit protects her. He also asks Klika about the friend he saw in the garden, and learns that it was Nutthamon. He then tells Klika to invite Nutthamon to work as his secretary at his company, and Nutthamon gladly accepts. She will work directly for Krit, at the Thai house, not the office. Klika is delighted that Nutthamon has gotten the job. Kaemkaew, meanwhile, brings documents asking to send Linchan, her mute daughter, abroad for treatment. Deep down, Kaemkaew is jealous that Krit plans to send Klika, Ketmanee’s daughter, to study overseas. Krit asks for time to decide.
On her first day of work, Nutthamon meets Phitsanu, Krit’s former secretary, who is about to transfer to the Chonburi branch. He trains her. That afternoon, Krit takes Nutthamon to a meeting at the office across from the Thai house. There she meets Bongkot, with whom she will have to coordinate regularly. As soon as Krit and Nutthamon leave, Bongkot telephones Panita and tells her all about Nutthamon. Distrustful, Panita immediately begins thinking of ways to eliminate her. Panita, the daughter of a poor market vendor, has already married twice to elevate her status. Her second marriage made her rich, and now that she has set her sights on Krit, she is determined to win him.
Kaemkaew comes to inspect Krit’s new secretary and is horrified by how much Nutthamon resembles Warada. After the meeting, Krit takes Nutthamon to the pond, which was once the air-raid shelter where Warada died. He says he once considered turning the area into a garden. Later, Krit introduces Nutthamon to Linchan, and the moment Nutthamon sees her, she realizes Linchan is Phanit reborn. Linchan realizes the same thing and becomes frightened, running away. Monthira tells Nutthamon that someone is selling a car. Nutthamon is interested because it would make commuting easier. After trying it out, she buys it and begins driving to work every day. Panita invites Krit to dinner, but he has already arranged to eat with Nutthamon and Klika, so Panita insists on coming too. She chooses a seafood restaurant and keeps making cutting remarks at Nutthamon. In the end, Nutthamon uses her powers to make a crab pinch Panita’s finger. Panita is left speechless, and no one knows Nutthamon caused it.
At graduation, Monthira meets Krit, who has come to congratulate Klika and Nutthamon. The four of them have dinner together. Monthira notices that Nutthamon dislikes Krit and realizes that he is the man her daughter dreams about. She is troubled that Nutthamon still cannot let go of her hatred. Later, Klika asks Nutthamon to place a photograph of herself with Krit on her desk, and she does. Kaemkaew sees it and is displeased. Klika returns to Phetchabun with gifts and photographs. When Ketmanee and Piti see the photo of Nutthamon, both are shocked by how much she resembles Warada. Panita sees the photo on Nutthamon’s desk and is furious. She invites Krit on a European tour and even books his ticket, but Krit refuses because he already has business to attend to. Panita is deeply hurt. She tries to get Nutthamon to work at the company office instead, so she will be farther from Krit, but Nutthamon refuses. Panita’s resentment grows stronger. When a servant brings coffee, Panita tries to spill it on Nutthamon, but the coffee ends up spilling on Panita herself. Panita is bewildered by the sudden reversal.
Kaemkaew tries to bring Linchan to see Krit, but just then Pairot, Linchan’s father, comes to visit and wants to take her out. Kaemkaew refuses, and they argue fiercely. This time Pairot does not back down. When Linchan leaves with him, Kaemkaew behaves almost like a madwoman. Krit rushes her to the hospital. Pairot apologizes for the severity of the situation, but Krit understands. Nutthamon packs her clothes to travel to Chiang Rai with Krit for work. Krit promises Monthira that he will take good care of her.
On the plane, Nutthamon vomits from fear of heights and is exhausted. When they arrive in Chiang Rai, Krit first takes her to a hotel to rest. But Nutthamon refuses to take the elevator because she is afraid of enclosed, dark spaces, blurting out in panic that Krit is going to kill her. This makes Krit suspicious, but he decides to stay on a lower floor and walks her upstairs. That night Nutthamon has a nightmare, causing objects to float as they did when she was a child. Krit thinks it is an earthquake, but when he asks others, everyone insists there was no earthquake. Krit becomes convinced that Nutthamon is hiding something. Singh, also called Sihanat, is the man who comes to receive Krit and Nutthamon at the Sattabut farm, where Krit is managing a project. Nutthamon compliments Sihanat’s house, but he says Krit designed it. Nutthamon immediately falls silent because she dislikes hearing anyone praise Krit. Then Amphon, the engineer on the project, arrives.
Krit and Nutthamon go sightseeing in Myanmar with Sihanat and his younger sister. Krit buys Nutthamon a necklace she likes, but she refuses it, so he forces her to take it. When Krit and Nutthamon have to spend time alone together, Nutthamon does not want to go, and once even hurts Krit. Krit suspects that something is very strange about her behavior, but still cannot figure it out. Once Amphon arrives, Krit focuses on work, while Nutthamon uses her spare time to think of a plan to deal with Krit as quickly as possible, because he is beginning to realize something.
After returning from Chiang Rai, Krit drops Nutthamon off at home, and Monthira thanks him. When Nutthamon returns to work, Krit is kind to her in every way, but she wants none of it. She begins carrying out her revenge, starting by taking the key to the storage room for herself. Before Piti returns to Chiang Rai, Nutthamon meets him and learns that after Warada’s death, Praphot divorced Phaka and became a wandering monk. Khunying Phaka and Phanit later died in a car crash. Praphot sold the house to Krit and continued wandering until his death. Kaemkaew sees Piti talking with Nutthamon and comes over to pick a fight. When Piti returns to Chiang Rai, he tells Ketmanee everything. Panita learns that Nutthamon has returned and quickly calls her henchmen to get rid of her. But the plan goes wrong, because the attackers follow the car Nutthamon usually drives without checking who is inside. As a result, Monthira becomes the victim. When Nutthamon finds out, she vows to deal with the culprits no matter what, even though Monthira begs her not to.
Panita, realizing the first attempt failed, orders another attack. But Nutthamon is not afraid, because she has long been waiting to settle all accounts. The two attackers are badly injured. The first person Nutthamon personally targets is Bongkot, whom she hypnotizes into hallucinating that worms are crawling from her mouth. Once Panita realizes Nutthamon is no ordinary person, she goes to warn Krit, but he does not listen. Nutthamon then hypnotizes Panita into seeing demons, just as Panita had called Nutthamon a demon. After work, Nutthamon invites Krit to the storage room. He goes willingly and follows her down inside, as she intends. While waiting for her explanation, Krit learns that Nutthamon is Warada reborn. Nutthamon refuses to hear anything Krit wants to say. She causes a stack of equipment to fall on him, breaking his leg, and locks him inside. She hopes to hear him cry out for help, but he does not. In the end, Nutthamon is the one who loses again. The next day, she has everyone search for Krit until they find him. Kaemkaew wants to take him to a doctor, but Krit asks to speak privately with Nutthamon first. He gives her the ring he had originally prepared for Warada. He then explains what happened on that long-ago day: before leaving the house, his mother fell and broke her leg, so he took her to the hospital and sent Kaemkaew to inform Warada in his place. But the next day Warada disappeared, and no one could find her until she was discovered dead.
Nutthamon is devastated to learn that Krit was not the one responsible. She goes to see Linchan and Kaemkaew. Pressing Linchan to tell the truth, Nutthamon terrifies her into confessing that Kaemkaew had planned everything from the start: she struck Warada on the head and dragged her into the air-raid shelter, saying she would let her out in a few days — but never did, until Warada died. Nutthamon is enraged to learn that Kaemkaew is the real culprit. Kaemkaew refuses to believe what she is seeing. Linchan suddenly speaks — but in Phanit’s voice. Once everything is exposed, Kaemkaew finally confesses and tries to kill Nutthamon again. But Nutthamon uses her psychic powers to attack Kaemkaew, leaving her terrified and frantic. Krit tries to stop her and asks Nutthamon to forgive. After that day, Kaemkaew is left paralyzed. Krit remains in the hospital recovering and decides to send Linchan abroad to study.
Nutthamon avoids seeing Krit, though she still asks Klika for news of him. Then she takes Monthira to the seaside, where she finally understands her mother’s teaching that love cannot be forced against fate. Nutthamon calls Krit, but he is not at home, and she is saddened. However, Krit follows her to the sea. At last the two clear up their misunderstandings and accept their love for each other. Time passes. Klika is close to graduation, with Tisorn waiting for her back in Thailand. Nutthamon now has a son named Athit. Though he is naughty, she loves him dearly, as well as the unborn daughter she is carrying. Krit and Nutthamon decide to name their daughter Warada.
