Synopsis
“La Phee Pob (Hunting the Pob Spirit)” tells a thrilling mix of supernatural action, romance, and comedy.
In the past, the terrifying spirit known as Pob Yod was feared by villagers. However, after being guided by Phra Khru Thammachote, Pob Yod reforms, stops his gruesome habit of eating raw livers, and dedicates himself to good deeds. He even becomes an officer in a special psychic crime suppression unit, helping investigate murder cases.
Baiya, a sharp-featured young woman, is the only daughter of Professor Phukhao, an academic who turned to integrated farming. She deeply admires Pob Yod because he once saved her life when she was a child. One day, Jaosua ET, the head of a massive food conglomerate dealing in all kinds of meat, confronts Pob Yod for campaigning against eating raw liver, which has hurt his business. His adopted son Thoeking fuels the conflict, escalating tensions between them.
Meanwhile, (Boong) Badee Thiantiengtham, the tycoon’s beloved grandson, returns from America. Blunt, sharp-tongued, and obsessed with money, Badee has never been serious about love. Upon hearing that the company’s stock is falling, he rushes to meet his grandfather. At the building, he clashes with Baiya in an elevator, leading to an argument. The tycoon has Baiya arrested, but Police Captain Pichit mediates and resolves the situation.
Secretly, Thoeking plots to seize the Thiantiengtham family fortune. He teams up with Saming, an evil shaman recently released from prison—arrested earlier thanks to Pob Yod. Seeking revenge, Saming agrees to help kill Jaosua ET and frame Pob Yod. Using dark magic, he creates Pob Yord, an identical but savage version of Pob Yod.
On the tycoon’s birthday, Thoeking hires Pob Yod to perform at the party. Baiya accompanies him. When Badee sees Baiya, sparks fly and conflict erupts again—ending with Baiya pushing Badee into a pool. The shock triggers the tycoon’s heart condition. Pob Yod rushes to save him, but Thoeking falsely accuses him of attempted murder. Furious, Badee throws Pob Yod and Baiya out.
Later, as the tycoon regains consciousness and tries to reveal the truth, Pob Yord appears and kills him—while Thoeking secretly records everything.
At the funeral, Pob Yod comes to pay respects, but Badee publicly accuses him by showing edited footage. Police arrive to arrest Pob Yod, but he escapes. Baiya is captured but manages to flee with the help of Dr. Den, a young doctor who treats her injuries and begins to develop feelings for her—though she disappears the next morning.
Pob Yod is later betrayed and arrested. Baiya, with the help of her friends Men, Yong, and Jimmy, rescues him and takes him to her father’s farm. Meanwhile, Thoeking manipulates Badee into going there, planning to kill him and frame Pob Yod.
As events unfold, relationships grow complicated—Dr. Den falls for Baiya, unaware that her friend Namphueng secretly loves him, while Badee grows jealous. Meanwhile, Saming unleashes Pob Yord to terrorize villagers and even attempts to kill Badee, who narrowly survives with help from the real Pob Yod and the spirit of his grandfather.
Eventually, Baiya is cursed and transformed into a Pob spirit herself. The only way to break the spell, Pob Yod reveals, is through true love. As villagers prepare to burn her alive, Badee risks everything—riding through danger to save her. He shields her from gunfire, taking a bullet himself and collapsing in her arms.
The story builds toward its emotional climax:
Will Badee survive?
Can Baiya be saved from the curse?
And will Pob Yod expose Thoeking’s sinister plan?
Follow the intense journey of love, sacrifice, and supernatural battles in “La Phee Pob.”
