Synopsis
Mom Chao Ying Umarangsi gets into a heated argument with her mother, Mom On, over the latter’s decision to marry Mr. Meng, a man of Thai-Chinese descent. Out of defiance, the princess flees her home. While traveling by train, she encounters Bharot, a stoic, middle-aged doctor whose cold demeanor hides a flicker of kindness. During a meal together in the dining car, Bharot learns that Umarangsi is heading to Chiang Mai to find work as a teacher but has no specific destination. He offers her a position as a nanny and tutor for his younger sister, Khun Jiew, who is mute and physically disabled. Umarangsi, using the alias "Uma," accepts the offer.
Upon arriving at his secluded castle deep in the forest, Umarangsi immediately clashes with Pa Chaem, the stern housekeeper, and Kanya, a woman who acts as if she owns Bharot. That night, Umarangsi is startled by the piercing screams of a woman. When she goes to investigate, she is stopped by Bharot, who warns her not to meddle in things that do not concern her, only deepening her suspicions.
The next day, Umarangsi rides a horse to Rai Song Pee Nong (Two Brothers Farm), where she meets the owners, Suleemas and Witsanu. The three become fast friends, and she begins visiting them frequently. Eventually, Phra Ong Chao Rawisak and his nanny, Nom Num, come to stay at the farm. Rawisak falls in love with Uma instantly but suspects she is actually Princess Umarangsi. He had previously delivered a letter from England from Umarangsi’s brother, Pong-isara, to Mom On, where he saw a photograph of the princess and heard the story of her disappearance.
As Umarangsi bond grows with Khun Jiew through her dedicated teaching, Bharot finds himself falling for her, though he remains emotionally guarded. Meanwhile, Pa Chaem and Kanya relentlessly bully and frame Umarangsi. The mystery reaches a breaking point one night when Umarangsi discovers a blood-soaked cat carcass hanging from her bedroom window. Terrified and certain that the castle hides a dark secret, she realizes she is caught in a web of danger.
