Synopsis
Kaew is a handsome young fisherman who lives on a small island called Koh Pan Dao. As a hobby, he performs as a charming Likay (traditional Thai folk opera) hero, dancing in fulfillment of vows to the delight of widows and older women in the community. Kung Nang is Kaew’s daughter, while Wan—his sharp-tongued and narrow-minded wife—never sees anything good in anyone. She constantly scolds both her husband and child without fail, and refuses to let any woman get close to Kaew, especially Paen, the neighbor who is secretly in love with him.
Despite everything, Kaew deeply loves both his wife and daughter, enduring Wan’s harsh words without protest. One day, Wan travels to Bangkok with Kaew. While they stop for a meal, Wan goes off shopping for clothes and jewelry and gets separated from him. Worried, Kaew rushes to find her and spots her across the road. In his haste to reach her, he carelessly runs across the street and is hit by a car, leaving him injured. The car’s owner, a handsome and wealthy man named Vithoon, takes the couple to recover at his home in Bangkok.
Vithoon becomes attracted to Wan’s beauty and takes her out to enjoy the vibrant nightlife of Bangkok. By the time Wan realizes that he is actually a pimp, she has already willingly given herself to him. One night, Kaew discovers Wan in bed with Vithoon. From that moment on, Kaew becomes a completely different person—he grows a beard and spends his days drinking alone.
Later, at a restaurant where a wedding is taking place, Kaew sees Wan about to be married. He abducts the bride and takes her back to Koh Pan Dao. However, the bride insists her name is Tuangporn, denying that she is Wan and claiming she has never known Kaew. Refusing to believe her, Kaew beats her and chains her up in his house in a pitiful state. Tuangporn endures both physical and emotional abuse, as every attempt to escape fails—no one on the island comes to her aid.
Watthana, Tuangporn’s fiancé, hires a capable police officer, Inspector Pongthep, to investigate the situation while he brings clients to visit Koh Pan Dao as a cover. Tuangporn learns that her fiancé is nearby and tries to contact him, but they narrowly miss each other. Meanwhile, Watthana discovers that Inspector Pongthep is involved in corruption. Losing hope, Tuangporn changes her approach and treats Kaew kindly to gain his sympathy. Moved by her behavior, Kaew promises his daughter that he will no longer abuse her “mother.” Tuangporn then proposes a condition: she will behave well if Kaew grants her freedom. He agrees, allowing her to move freely around the island without being chained.
But Kaew’s nightmare soon returns. Inspector Pongthep, who is secretly working for Vithoon, discovers that Tuangporn is actually Wan’s twin sister. He plans to capture Tuangporn and sell her to Vithoon as a high-class prostitute, just like Wan. Fortunately, Kaew arrives in time to save her and finally learns the truth—that Tuangporn is Wan’s twin. Once again, Kaew is left in sorrow. Tuangporn returns home but falls into depression and refuses to move in with Watthana.
Filled with resentment toward Vithoon, Inspector Pongthep plots revenge. Wan witnesses him shooting Vithoon and, terrified, runs across the street—only to be struck by a car. Tuangporn gets the chance to see her sister one last time before she dies.
After all the tragic events, Watthana forces Tuangporn to go abroad to rest until the rumors die down.
What will become of Kaew and Tuangporn’s love? Stay tuned for the drama Fai Rak A Soon (The Demon’s Burning Love).
