Synopsis
Long ago, the ruler of Phukham had two consorts, Saengla and La-ongthong. He loved Saengla more, which made La-ongthong jealous. Secretly raising dark spirits, La-ongthong used them to harm Saengla until she died. Before her death, Saengla cursed La-ongthong to never find happiness. In return, La-ongthong swore to follow and take revenge on Saengla in every lifetime.
The ruler was devastated by Saengla’s death and ordered La-ongthong executed. However, her spirit killed him first. La-ongthong preserved his body in a hidden coffin to perform rituals granting her power and immortality. When the front palace viceroy returned from war, she installed him as ruler, but he ordered her execution. Her spirit killed him as well, and La-ongthong seized power, declaring herself the ruler.
Over time, she neglected the spirits she controlled, despite warnings from her loyal servant Sophi. Eventually, those spirits possessed her, turning her into a monstrous “pob” (a flesh-eating spirit). Sophi, now half-human and half-spirit, continued serving her for centuries. The Phukham kingdom eventually fell into ruin.
Centuries later, the viceroy was reborn as Phuwanai, a handsome archaeologist obsessed with uncovering the lost kingdom. His girlfriend, Palin, rose to fame after landing a major film role, angering Ardee, a famous actress who lost the role. Ardee’s partner, Thananchai, struggled with gambling debts and became increasingly desperate.
Phuwanai began dreaming of the ancient kingdom and set out with his friend Chaiya to find it. Meanwhile, Saengla was reborn as Linfa, a spiritual healer in a Thai-Cambodian border village. She had two daughters, Nuan and Manee. Linfa used sacred rituals to heal the sick, but La-ongthong’s spirit repeatedly interfered, possessing people and spreading fear. Eventually, villagers believed Linfa herself had become a dangerous spirit.
La-ongthong, remembering Linfa as her past-life enemy, intensified her attacks. Linfa was possessed at night, forced to hunt animals and spread terror. Her daughters begged her to stop, but she refused.
Phuwanai and his group eventually reached the ruins of Phukham, where La-ongthong lured people with promises of treasure, intending to sacrifice them. Many individuals connected by fate—including Ardee, Thananchai, and Palin’s family—were drawn there.
At the same time, a monk revealed that the only way to end the curse was to drive a sacred golden talisman into the forehead of the original ruler’s corpse. This task fell to Phuwanai.
Inside the cursed domain, chaos unfolded—jealousy, betrayal, and supernatural attacks plagued everyone. Chaiya was killed by La-ongthong. Nuan, desperate to save her family, was manipulated into serving La-ongthong. Others fell victim to greed and fear.
As the final full moon approached, Palin stalled La-ongthong while Phuwanai searched for the hidden coffin. With the help of Linfa, Manee, and Kom (a young man who loved Manee), spiritual power was summoned to counter the dark forces.
In the climax, Nuan regained her senses and joined forces with the others. Together, they drove the golden talisman into the ruler’s corpse. Instantly, La-ongthong lost her power and vanished.
When outsiders arrived, the once-grand palace had disappeared, leaving only an empty field—as if it had never existed.
In the aftermath, Phuwanai married Palin, and Kom married Manee. Nuan became a spiritual successor to her mother, while Linfa chose to become a nun, dedicating her life to atonement and spiritual practice, even extending compassion toward La-ongthong.
