Synopsis
Vows of Love (Athitthan Rak)
The Rebel and the Destiny
M.R. Ingfah is a beautiful, rebellious artist feeling suffocated by her father, M.C. Ong-In, who is forcing her to marry M.R. Phet Thae, a promising but materialistic young diplomat. Unable to endure the pressure, Ingfah flees to Lampang during the Salung Luang festival. Her father sends his trusted subordinate, Thep, to bring her back.Ingfah often dreams of her late mother, M.C. Khiang Duean, and the Phra That Lampang Luang temple. Following her dreams, she travels to the temple to pay her respects. At the same time, a handsome local man named Pha Luang arrives at the temple for the same reason.
Unknown to them, they share a deep connection:
- Pha Luang possesses a Buddha image with a missing ruby.
- Ingfah wears a ruby ring that was originally taken from that very statue.
- Their Parents' Past: Ingfah’s mother and Pha Luang’s father, Pha Riang, were once lovers whose romance was torn apart by social status. Before being separated, they prayed at this temple that their children might one day find true love.
Adventure in Lampang
Ingfah and Pha Luang meet due to a misunderstanding at the festival; she accuses him of stealing her wallet. To prove his innocence, he lets her search him. Having found nothing, Ingfah talks him into helping her find a place to stay.Pha Luang and his close friend Karaked are leaders of a local conservation club. They are currently embroiled in a conflict with Sia Heng, a corrupt resort owner encroaching on national park land. When Sia Heng kidnaps Karaked to suppress evidence of his crimes, the mischievous Ingfah insists on joining Pha Luang's rescue mission.
During their time lost in the forest, a deep bond forms between Pha Luang and Ingfah. However, the situation turns dire when Ingfah’s father and Phet Thae arrive to find her. The confusion leads Sia Heng to believe the police have been called, and he captures Ingfah as well. To save Karaked, Ingfah reveals her high-ranking royal status, claiming she can use her influence to help Sia Heng beat his legal charges. Karaked is released, but Pha Luang finds he cannot forget Ingfah’s bright, infectious smile.
The Memory Reset
While Sia Heng is attempting to flee with Ingfah, their car crashes. Ingfah suffers a severe brain injury and loses her memory. Seizing this opportunity, M.C. Ong-In "reprograms" her mind. He gives her a new identity as a sophisticated socialite working for the Ministry of Culture and brainwashes her into believing she has always been in love with M.R. Phet Thae.A year passes. Pha Luang meets Ingfah again, but she is no longer the spirited artist he knew. She is now a cold, haughty noblewoman overseeing his traditional music troupe. Most painfully, she has no memory of him.
Heartbroken by her coldness and her upcoming wedding to Phet Thae, Pha Luang almost gives up. However, he discovers that Phet Thae doesn't love her; he only wants to seize her family's estate, "Wang Daeng," worth billions. Pha Luang decides to swallow his pride and takes a job as a servant in the palace to protect her. He is determined to bring her back to Lampang and restore the bright, joyful girl he once loved.
Cultural Notes
- M.C. / M.R.: These are Thai royal titles (Mom Chao and Mom Rajawongse).
- Phra That Lampang Luang: One of the most sacred temples in Northern Thailand, famous for the "inverted reflection" of the pagoda seen through a tiny hole in a wooden building.
