The Clumsy Heiress of Lan Krabue
In the district of Lan Krabue, Kamphaeng Phet province, lives Yen, a young woman who is charmingly clumsy, eccentric, and a bit of a tomboy. She lives with her grandparents, Ta Yuen and Yai Chuang.
The backstory of her family is a tragic one: Yen’s mother, Yuean, fell in love and started a life with Chainarong, the son of the wealthy aristocrat Khun Chotibodinnarinsongkhram. However, Chainarong’s parents refused to accept their union, leading Yuean to bring her husband and daughter back to live with her own parents. Later, Chainarong died in a tragic buffalo-goring accident.
In a fit of grief and rage, Ta Yuen swore to remain an enemy of Khun Chotibodin for the rest of his life. Since then, the grandparents have raised Yen as the "apple of their eye," though she grew up to be quite a handful—especially when hanging out with her close friends, Fon and Khao. Despite her wild nature, Yen secretly vows that one day she will find her grandfather.
The Wealthy Hermit
At Lan Krabue, Ta Yuen teaches Yen how to live a self-sufficient life according to the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy. He grows various vegetables and herbs, and no matter what ailment the villagers have, Ta Yuen treats them with herbal medicine until they are cured.
Because of his simple lifestyle, some villagers mistake him for being stingy. In reality, Ta Yuen is a "gold-wrapped rag" (Pha Khi Rio Hor Thong) — a Thai idiom for a wealthy person who hides their riches behind a humble exterior.
The Grandfather's Search
On the other side of the family, Khun Chotibodin was devastated to learn of his only son's death. Though he eventually gave up his initial search for his granddaughter, the desire to find his only living heir remains buried deep in his heart. The story follows the journey of whether this broken family can ever be reunited.
