Synopsis
The story takes place in Ban Phu Mok, a national park shrouded in mist and home to wildlife of all sizes. However, this sanctuary is currently under threat from encroaching capitalists. Every New Year's Day, the villagers of Phu Mok join Luang Por Yai (Noppadol Duangporn) of Wat Phu Mok to perform merit-making rituals and a "tree ordination" ceremony to bless the water sources, aiming to preserve their culture and protect the forest.
At the temple grounds, the "Khaoniao" band performs on stage. Praiwan (Nam Rapeepat), a park ranger and the band's leader, sings songs promoting the conservation of trees and wildlife. Meanwhile, deep in the forest, a baby elephant struggles violently, its leg caught in a poacher's snare. Nearby, Rerail (Alexandra Thidawan Bounxouei) soothes the calf until it calms down, then uses her pocket knife to cut the trap. Beside her, Reed-Ring (Runglawan Tonahongsa) urges Rerail to hurry, warning that the hunter Lamai (Wayne Falconer) is approaching.
Rerail and Reed-Ring flee from Lamai, only to stumble upon a caravan smuggling illegal goods, led by the henchmen of Sahapop (Suchao Pongwilai). It is a case of "out of the frying pan and into the fire." Just as they are cornered with nowhere to run, police and forest officials led by Praiwan intervene to make arrests.
Elsewhere, at a highway checkpoint, timber trucks belonging to "Santisuk Trading" are heading toward a port in a neighboring province. Seeing the Santisuk brand, police let them pass easily, unaware that these trucks are concealing a massive haul of illegal forest products—much larger than the lot that was just intercepted. This scheme is a secret known only to Sahapop and Vajee (Krongthong Rachatawan), the wife of Santisuk (Attachai Anantamek).
Since childhood, there has been a special spot where Praiwan, Rerail, and Reed-Ring made a pact: whenever they are here, they must never lie to one another. This place became known as the "Cliff of Truth." From their childhood bond, Praiwan's feelings for Rerail gradually blossomed into love. The entire village of Phu Mok is aware of and admires the young man's devotion. However, Rerail maintains a distance, valuing their bond as friendship rather than romance.
When Tawan arrives as the new chief of Phu Mok National Park, a love triangle forms between Tawan, Rerail, and Praiwan, forcing Rerail to make a choice.
Meanwhile, a major incident unfolds. A massive shipment of illegal timber is being prepared for transport. Deep in the forest, Rerail and Tawan accidentally stumble upon Sahapop's caravan as they are killing forest rangers who attempted to stop the operation. On this day, Rerail finally learns the truth about who killed her mother. Sahapop frames Tawan and Rerail for the murder of the forest rangers.
Authorities, along with Praiwan, launch a manhunt for Tawan and Rerail. Simultaneously, Reed-Ring, Hunter Win (Thanom Samtone), and Hunter Wang (Gift Kokkhoon) set out to find Rerail as well. Knowing the forest paths intimately, Praiwan finds the pair first. He acts as an informant, helping Tawan and Rerail evade the police.
Rerail's gunshot wound becomes infected, causing her to become delirious and go into shock from blood loss. Tawan does everything in his power to keep her conscious, enduring her thrashing and delirium without complaint. The next morning, Rerail wakes up in Tawan's arms. Seeing the injuries on his body caused by her delirium, her previous prejudice against him vanishes completely.
Tawan decides to risk taking Rerail into the city for medical treatment. He coordinates a plan with Praiwan to expose Sahapop's true nature. Sahapop is tricked into confessing his crimes while Praiwan records the conversation. However, Sahapop realizes the trap and attacks; Praiwan is overpowered. Just as Sahapop aims his gun to kill Praiwan, Tawan arrives and throws himself in front of the bullet, taking the shot to his torso.
Reed-Ring, Hunter Wang, and Hunter Win lead the police to the scene just in time to intervene. Tawan is rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
What will become of Tawan? As for Rerail, only her heart can decide who she will choose: Tawan or Praiwan? Follow the story in "Rerail Look Sao Pa" on Channel 7.
