Synopsis
The arrival of a mysterious young man—strong-built, sharp-eyed, yet with an honest gaze—at Mueang Phon, a large subdistrict near Khon Kaen, stirs great curiosity. The town is underdeveloped but lively. Jong-ang, a local boy, is especially shocked when he sees the man crying at the grave of Pho Kon—his father—who had disappeared for over ten years.
Jong-ang rushes to tell his parents, Pa Pan and Mae Jae, owners of a local shop that sells liquor, coffee, food, and general goods. Before he can finish, the young man suddenly appears at the shop, astonishing everyone.
He orders a drink and asks for his mother. The local toughs, Khon and Singto, laugh, thinking he’s just a naïve wanderer looking for his mom. They try to show off their power, but the man doesn’t react—he simply leaves quietly.
In truth, the man is Kan Kriangkrai, a former police sergeant who was imprisoned for murder. Now free, he has returned home—only to find his life in ruins. His father has been shot dead, his mother, wife, and sister have mysteriously disappeared, and his home has been taken over and turned into the “Ratchasi Hemp Mill.” He is even driven away by the workers there.
Broken and hopeless, Kan begins to lose his will to live. But after talking with Taphao, the kind-hearted daughter of Pa Pan and Mae Jae—the only person who treats him sincerely—his sorrow turns into burning rage. He learns that all the tragedies that befell his family were caused by Saen Ratchasi, his former best friend.
When Saen’s henchmen, Khon and Singto, come after him again, Kan fights them off using his signature weapon, the kham faek (a traditional Thai fighting staff), then disappears without a trace.
When Saen, now the powerful crime lord of Mueang Phon, hears about this skilled fighter, he immediately knows—Kan has returned. And the time for settling their long-standing grudge has come.
Saen sends his men to search the entire town, but Kan remains hidden. Unable to find him, Saen vents his rage on Dokmai, Kan’s former lover, whom he had abducted. Just as she is about to be assaulted, Kan appears and saves her. Yet instead of killing Saen, Kan chooses justice—forcing him to confess. But Saen tricks him, injures him, and Kan barely escapes.
Kan later finds refuge with Anchan, Saen’s half-sister and his former lover. Though hurt by their past, she helps him. As their feelings resurface, Kan confesses he left her because of his duty as a police officer—he could never stand with criminals. Anchan eventually joins his cause to restore justice.
