Synopsis
Chomchan is a fermented fish (pla ra) seller with a younger sister named Methinee. Both sisters are orphans. Chomchan works hard to support Methinee, using the family’s secret pla ra recipe passed down from their grandparents, eventually enabling Methinee to study in the United States.
One day, Methinee calls to say she is returning home with her fiancé’s family. Chomchan goes to the airport to pick her up. While looking for Methinee, Chomchan accidentally picks up a phone left on a chair. The phone’s owner immediately assumes she is a thief. Chomchan tries to explain, but he refuses to believe her and threatens to call the police. She runs away and reunites with Methinee, who introduces her to Nakorn and his father, Khun Kanchit.
Chomchan nearly faints again when she is introduced to Phokin, Nakorn’s uncle—the very man who owns the phone. To prevent Nakorn’s family from looking down on her, Methinee tells everyone that Chomchan is a silk export businesswoman. Out of love for her sister, Chomchan goes along with the lie.
Chomchan faces more trouble when Nakorn’s family plans a visit to their home. She is forced to rent a large house from Seamongkol, a wealthy landowner who owns Bang Samli Market, in order to carry out the “role-playing” that Methinee has orchestrated, with help from Kru Jiraporn.
Methinee has fallen in love with Nakorn to the point of forgetting her true self—forgetting the pla ra business that paid for her overseas education. Chomchan is heartbroken to see Methinee change into a high-class, foreign-educated snob who looks down on others and despises pla ra. Methinee asks Chomchan to stop selling pla ra, but Chomchan refuses, because she loves it more than life itself.
