The Elder Son-in-Law, the Younger Daughter-in-Law tells the story of Wisawa, a handsome young man in his mid-twenties who grows tired of the chaotic life in the capital after being heartbroken by Ubonwan. He decides to move to the countryside for work and stays with his uncle, Mr. Wong—a former gangster who has since retired and turned to farming.
Mr. Wong has a son named Wanpadej, a reckless and fearless young man. His only close female friend is Yaibua, who shares a similar bold personality. The two have been close since school and remained inseparable through university.
Mr. Wong’s farm is next to that of Mr. Saisaming, his longtime rival. Both were once feared gangsters and raised their children to see each other as enemies. However, Wanpadej and Yaibua refused to follow this hatred and remained close friends, something their fathers could not stop.
Saisaming disapproves of Yaibua’s defiance, though his elderly father, Grandpa Saeb, hopes his son will abandon his violent past. Saisaming has two daughters—Rungmai, the eldest, whom he respects and is proud of, and Yaibua. Rungmai is beautiful, capable, and shares her father’s hostility toward Wong’s family, making her Wanpadej’s rival since childhood.
Unbeknownst to others, Yaibua has secretly fallen in love with Wanpadej. However, she realizes that Wanpadej is actually interested in Rungmai.
Love and Conflict
One day, Wisawa meets Rungmai when her car breaks down and helps her, leaving a strong impression. Their relationship gradually develops into romance.
Meanwhile, a confrontation between Rungmai and Wanpadej escalates, resulting in Rungmai angrily crashing her bicycle into him, causing him to break his ankle and be hospitalized.
Wanpadej’s stepmother, Lamduan, takes the opportunity to introduce a beautiful woman named Jiranan to care for him. However, Wanpadej only wants Yaibua by his side.
Complicated Relationships
Wisawa becomes closer to Rungmai, while Wanpadej introduces him to Yaibua. Yaibua is shocked to learn that Wisawa is Mr. Wong’s nephew, and Wisawa asks her to keep it secret, fearing Rungmai would reject him.
At a celebration for Saisaming receiving a “Father of the Year” award, tensions rise. Saisaming reluctantly accepts Wisawa but continues to look down on Wanpadej, unaware that Wisawa and Wanpadej are actually related.
Hurt by Rungmai’s acceptance of Wisawa, Wanpadej drinks heavily. Yaibua takes care of him at a hotel, but Jiranan spreads rumors that Yaibua tried to take advantage of him. The situation escalates into a major conflict.
Furious and unwilling to let Yaibua’s reputation be ruined, Wanpadej takes responsibility and marries her—out of love.
Marriage and New Tensions
Yaibua moves into Wanpadej’s home, where Jiranan also lives. Their marriage grows into genuine love, and Yaibua willingly gives herself to him.
Meanwhile, Saisaming refuses to accept Wisawa and tries to separate him from Rungmai. However, due to Grandpa Saeb’s wishes before falling ill, Rungmai and Wisawa marry quickly.
Wisawa moves into Saisaming’s house, enduring mistreatment from his father-in-law out of love for Rungmai.
Danger and Resolution
Jiranan plots revenge by hiring a man named Fai to kidnap Yaibua, but he betrays her and holds multiple people hostage for ransom. Wanpadej, Wisawa, and the police rescue them successfully, and Jiranan’s involvement is exposed.
After all the turmoil, the two families begin to reconcile. Yaibua becomes pregnant, and Wanpadej earns Saisaming’s acceptance as a beloved son-in-law.
Rungmai and Wisawa move to the city for work, while Wanpadej tries to maintain harmony between both families.
Conclusion
In the end, the long-standing feud between the older generation fades away—defeated by the love and unity of the younger generation.
