Synopsis
Wakul is the adopted daughter of an American nurse named Miss Rose Cecil, whom she calls “Mom.” Miss Rose met Wakul’s biological mother at a hospital. The woman had become pregnant by a famous painter but could not raise a child born out of wedlock, so she entrusted the baby to Miss Rose, who was single.
Wakul grows up to become a flight attendant and has a close colleague named Thipayong. She plans to resign and move to Mae Hong Son to live with Miss Rose. Her airline captain introduces her to his younger brother, Wichian, a lawyer based there. Wichian picks her up at Chiang Mai airport and shows her the old Cecil family house, which had been renovated and rented out before Miss Rose moved back in. Before passing away, Miss Rose leaves the house and land to Wakul in her will.
Wichian also takes Wakul to see the old Bradley family estate, which he manages legally. The Bradleys once held logging concessions in Burma and owned an oil business, even having a private plane. The former owner, Mr. Bradley, married a hill tribe woman named Pansi, but both died in a plane crash, leaving behind their infant son, Lomhuan. The child was placed under the care of Dech, Pansi’s older brother, along with an elderly mute and deaf servant named Mae Khao.
Dech became the estate manager according to the will, responsible for raising Lomhuan. Wichian explains that Lomhuan is mentally disabled, and Dech built a private, modern hospital to care for him and over twenty similar patients, rather than sending them to a public institution. Dech himself is disabled from an accident and has a son, Decho, a carefree playboy who looks down on Lomhuan.
At a party at Dech’s house, Wakul sees a portrait of Pansi, whose soulful gaze seems to silently plead for help. She also plays Pansi’s old guitar, which angers Dech. Later, she discovers a small dollhouse that Pansi had built while pregnant, expecting a daughter. Mae Khao fiercely guards it and prevents anyone from entering.
Soon after, Wakul is devastated to learn that Miss Rose has passed away. She accepts a job as Decho’s secretary and moves into the Bradley mansion. Still intrigued by the dollhouse, she secretly witnesses Mae Khao and an old man performing strange rituals inside it at night. Wakul begins communicating with Mae Khao using sign language and cares for her when she falls ill.
Dech assigns his secretary, Somkid—an ex-policeman skilled with firearms—to monitor Wakul. Wakul later learns from Mae Khao that Lomhuan was actually born normal, but Dech had him confined in the hospital. Wichian initially doubts this, believing Mae Khao is unstable, but Lomhuan is now 25 and still treated as mentally disabled.
Wakul meets Lomhuan under the care of Dr. Pichit and befriends a psychologist named Methee. Together, they test Lomhuan and discover that his intelligence is actually normal. However, Dech finds out, destroys the evidence, and has Methee killed.
Realizing the danger, Wichian helps Wakul plan to rescue Lomhuan. Before they can act, a fire breaks out at the hospital, allowing Wakul and Lomhuan to escape with the help of Kiang Kham, who takes them to a remote hill tribe village. There, Wakul helps Lomhuan relearn life—working, bathing in streams, farming, and living freely for the first time.
Somkid and Decho track them down to kill Lomhuan on Dech’s orders, but the villagers protect them. Not wanting to bring harm to the villagers, Wakul and Lomhuan flee again, but are pursued and attacked. Lomhuan is shot and injured, but the police arrive in time. A shootout follows, and Somkid is killed.
Dech is arrested, confesses his crimes, and later commits suicide in prison. With support from others, Lomhuan takes over the family business and continues his education as encouraged by Wakul. Within a few years, he graduates and becomes a successful businessman. In the end, Wakul accepts his love and agrees to marry him.
