In the kingdom of Surakan, Prince Phet Dara, as a child, mischievously takes his pet monkey Jor out to play in the marketplace. The monkey had been a gift from a foreign land as part of a diplomatic tribute. However, Jor is extremely unruly, causing chaos among the townspeople—some even panic and fall into the water, resulting in tragic deaths.
King Anuwong becomes furious with his son and orders the monkey to be burned. Deeply attached to his pet, Phet Dara refuses and escapes with Jor aboard a flying chariot. During their escape, he meets Princess Buakaew, who has run away from her hermit grandfather to explore the skies. Together, they encounter the giant Mekkhaphat, who desires both the flying chariot and Buakaew’s magical Chakrakot. He hurls a magical axe at them, destroying the chariot and sending both Phet Dara and Buakaew falling from the sky.
Years later, Phet Dara has grown up and trained in combat under his master. He sets out to return to his homeland. Along the way, he encounters Mekkhisit, a giant king of the sky realm, who is on his way to choose Princess Buakaew as his bride. A battle breaks out between them—yet neither can defeat the other, as Phet Dara cannot kill Mekkhisit, and Mekkhisit cannot overcome Phet Dara.
