Bunchop Chittiamtham is a billionaire real estate tycoon known for his virtuous, charitable nature and his deep love for his family and staff. However, his trusting personality often makes him easy to deceive. His wife, Marasri, is his polar opposite—consumed by greed, selfishness, and a blind devotion to her own biological children.
The couple has three children:

• Bunchon, the eldest daughter, manages the family finances. She is sweet-talking but deeply malicious. Her husband, Pansak, is a cunning lawyer who worships money and lives in constant fear of his wife.
• Bunchoke, the second son, oversees the land allotment and housing projects. He is a playboy who squanders money on a lavish lifestyle. His wife, Panchalee, is envious and sycophantic, always trying to make herself look good at the expense of others.
• Bunchai, the third son, is a lazy, selfish, and unfaithful man devoid of compassion. His wife, Nampetch, is a manipulative social climber who acts friendly to everyone's face while gossiping behind their backs.

Tawan is an orphan whom Bunchop felt an instant spiritual connection with while making merit at Wat Sakaeo. Bunchop adopted him and raised him as his own son. Tawan grew up to be a diligent and brilliant young man, graduating with first-class honors from Kasetsart University. His polite demeanor and hard-working nature make him Bunchop’s favorite, which fuels a fire of resentment in Marasri and her three biological children.
Tawan is subjected to constant bullying and sabotage by the family. While Bunchop sees and understands everything that is happening, he finds himself unable to quell the intense jealousy of his wife and children. To protect Tawan, Bunchop eventually calls him in for a private meeting and asks him to leave the house.
