At Saensuk Market in Lopburi Province, an old and historic community marketplace owned by Tao Kae Hong, a lively group of vendors brings the place to life. Among them are Jae Wee and Hia Tong, who sell a famous fish maw soup so delicious it’s unforgettable; Jae Biab and her husband, known for their renowned “kanom tang taek” (crispy Thai pancakes); and Grandma Maen, who sells betel leaves, pomelo, citrus, and a variety of local vegetables.
Thongkon and Tubtim, a married couple, run a small grocery shop along with traditional herbal products. Neung, an orphaned young man, makes a living by doing all kinds of odd jobs around the market. Nam-Oi is a bold and famous papaya salad vendor known for her unique style. Pu Thiam, an 80-year-old man, sells fish that he personally catches from the river—becoming a legend of the market.
There is also Pen Thai, a graduate in agriculture, who takes care of the mushroom farm inherited from his father, Thawan.
