Synopsis
Khwanchit, a country girl working as a singer in a restaurant, falls in love with Robert, an African-American volunteer surgeon. When Khwanchit becomes pregnant, Robert intends to take his new family to America but must first return home to handle citizenship paperwork. He never returns. Faced with harsh gossip, Khwanchit moves to Bangkok to start a new life.
Twenty years later, her daughter Ramanee, or Rainy (Maeya Nonthawan), has grown up in a crowded flat. A girl with dark skin and curly hair, Rainy has spent her life being teased for her appearance, especially by Dujdao, the daughter of the local salon owner. After graduating, Rainy helps her mother sell "Som Tum Delivery," though she spends her free time following celebrities on social media. Her ultimate idol is Traikhun (Art Pasut), the handsome and wealthy heir to Siam Advertising.
Unexpected Encounters
Rainy's life takes a turn when she helps a handsome foreigner named Peter retrieve his phone from a taxi. Later, while delivering Som Tum to "Angel Pub," she watches the singer Nanny (Metinee) rehearse. Caught up in the music, Rainy begins to sing and dance along. The pub owner, Charlee, offers her a job as a singer. Though initially hesitant due to her past, Khwanchit eventually allows Rainy to take the job, warning her never to trust foreigners.
At Siam Advertising, Traikhun is in a heated conflict with his grandfather, Siam, over business failures and his relationship with the starlet May (Best Chanidapa). Siam wants Traikhun to break up with May and marry Risa instead.
The Scheme Begins
One night at the pub, Rainy spots Traikhun. When a drunk foreigner tries to harass her, Rainy swings her high heel to defend herself, but it flies out of her hand and hits Traikhun in the head. While tending to his wound, the two get into a fierce argument. Traikhun, struck by an idea, drags Rainy to his office the next day and introduces her to everyone as his new girlfriend to spite his grandfather.
Siam quickly realizes it’s a trick and privately approaches Rainy. He offers to hire her to actually get rid of May. Rainy initially refuses the "dirty work," but tragedy strikes when Khwanchit is involved in a serious accident and needs expensive surgery. With no other way to pay the medical bills, Rainy accepts Siam's deal: he will cover the surgery and pay her a salary if she acts as Traikhun's secretary and successfully drives May away. Despite feeling sorry for May, Rainy realizes she has no choice but to play the part.
