Synopsis

One in the Heart (Reincarnation Tale)
Mom Chao Rangsitorn, also known as Than Chai Yai, the only son of a royal noble during the reign of King Rama VI, falls in love with Princess Mankaew, a young noblewoman who comes to live and study in the palace. However, his mother, Mom Phaya, strongly opposes the relationship out of jealousy—since Mankaew is favored by the prince’s father and is highly talented, especially in languages. She instead intends for her son to marry Mom Chao Ying Wilairakha, his younger royal relative.
Despite the opposition, Than Chai Yai insists on marrying Mankaew. But on their wedding night, tragedy strikes—Mankaew is brutally poisoned and dies, leaving him devastated. Out of deep love, he vows never to love anyone else again, even rejecting Wilairakha.
Years later, Mankaew is reincarnated and returns to the same place—now transformed into a girls’ school called Kulnaree Wittaya School. The estate is now owned by Mom Rajawongse Jirayus, the only grandson of Wilairakha. In her new life, Mankaew is reborn as Rachawadee, a language teacher. She feels a strong, unexplainable connection to the place—especially to a Western-style house behind the school and a forbidden song called “Lao Mankaew,” composed by Than Chai Yai for the woman he loved.
At the school, Rachawadee encounters the spirit of Than Chai Yai, who has been waiting for her all this time. Sadly, she has no memory of her past life. Still, she becomes fascinated by the past and often listens to his stories without fear. One day, she discovers a portrait of Mankaew—who looks exactly like her—leading her to realize their deep connection. She also begins to feel an emotional bond with Than Chai Yai.
Meanwhile, Jirayus falls in love with Rachawadee, despite already being engaged to Mom Rajawongse Ying Sawanya. He eventually breaks off the engagement, angering his grandmother Wilairakha, who has lived in loneliness since the tragedy years ago. Upon seeing Rachawadee, Wilairakha immediately believes she is Mankaew reincarnated, returning for revenge. Determined not to let history repeat itself, she plots against her.
Rachawadee is brought to serve at Wilairakha’s residence, where she discovers that the old noblewoman is highly skilled in poisons. Eventually, Than Chai Yai’s spirit reveals the truth: it was Wilairakha, in collaboration with Mom Phaya, who poisoned Mankaew in the past.
Driven by lingering hatred, Wilairakha attempts to poison Rachawadee again—but this time, Jirayus saves her in time. Wilairakha dies, still consumed by vengeance. Jirayus then proposes to Rachawadee once more, but she refuses. Moved by the enduring love of Than Chai Yai, she chooses instead to leave worldly life and devote herself to spiritual practice, dedicating merit to him. This deeply disappoints Jirayus.
Not long after, Rachawadee passes away.
In the next life, destiny brings them together again. Than Chai Yai is reborn as Mom Luang Jirakom, the son of Jirayus and Sawanya, while Rachawadee is reborn as Antra, the daughter of her close friend. The two quickly form a deep bond, especially through their shared love of the song “Lao Mankaew.” Their relationship blossoms, and they eventually marry.
However, the vengeful spirit of Wilairakha returns once more to haunt them. In the end, Jirayus—whom she loves dearly—convinces her to let go of her hatred and move on to be reborn.
At last, after lifetimes of separation and longing, the two souls are reunited—fulfilling a love that has endured across time.
