Synopsis
Once, when the princess of Romawisai was born, she came into the world holding a small wooden house. As the princess grew, the wooden house grew with her. Therefore, her father named her Sonoi Ruen Ngam. When she turned 15, an astrologer predicted she was facing a period of great misfortune and advised that she leave the city. Her parents were forced to let her journey out into the world alone.
Phra Indra felt deep pity for her, so he disguised himself as a white-robed ascetic (Chee Pakhao) and gifted her a miraculous medicine capable of reviving the dead. Later, when Sonoi Ruen Ngam found a woman named Kula who had been bitten by a snake and died in the forest, she used the ascetic's medicine to heal her. Grateful for her life, Kula asked to follow Sonoi Ruen Ngam as her servant.
Meanwhile, in the neighboring Kingdom of Nopparat, the King had a son named Phra Wichit Jinda. The prince had been bitten by a venomous snake and passed away. His parents were overcome with grief, but an astrologer foretold that the prince would only be dead for seven years, after which a princess from another land would come to heal him. The King and Queen kept his body and issued a proclamation seeking someone to perform the cure.
When Sonoi Ruen Ngam and Kula arrived at Nopparat and heard the news, the princess entered the palace and volunteered. She requested that seven layers of curtains be drawn so no one could see her during the treatment. As she applied the medicine, the Naga venom caused an intense heat, forcing her to remove her royal garments to go bathe. During her absence, Kula stole and put on Sonoi Ruen Ngam's royal clothes. Just then, Phra Wichit Jinda regained consciousness, leading everyone to believe that Kula was the princess who had saved him.
In the end, when Phra Wichit Jinda discovered that Sonoi Ruen Ngam was the true princess who had performed the healing, he ordered the execution of the deceitful Kula. However, Sonoi Ruen Ngam pleaded for Kula's life. Phra Wichit Jinda then married Sonoi Ruen Ngam, and they lived together in happiness.
