Synopsis
The story begins in 2004 at Darun Rak School, located in the district of King Jan Daeng. There isn't a soul in the district who doesn't know Khru Sawai, a strictly disciplined teacher famously nicknamed Khru Wai Jai Rai (Fierce Teacher Wai). Now 60 years old and nearing retirement, her reputation for being incredibly stern, rigid, and fearsome is legendary throughout the town.
However, few people see the other side of her. Khru Wai is deeply merit-oriented and compassionate; she refuses to harm even a single mosquito. Every Buddhist Sabbath, she is always the first person to arrive at the temple. Her daily routine is so precise that she has become the town's "living clock." If an unforeseen event ever causes her schedule to slip, the lives of everyone who relies on her timing are thrown into disarray.
The story then flashes back to 1969. At that time, Sawai worked as a translator for a man named Sabaru. It was love at first sight for Sawai, with a man named Saeng acting as Cupid for the pair. However, Sawai faced a major obstacle: she couldn't tell her father the truth that Sabaru was Japanese. She lied and said he was Korean because her father harbored a deep hatred for the Japanese, blaming them for the death of Sawai’s mother.
When her father eventually discovered the truth, the shock and anger were so intense that he was hospitalized. Sabaru sought his forgiveness, and eventually, the father let go of his prejudice, allowing them to be together before he passed away. Despite this, Sabaru ultimately had to return to Japan. Devastated, Sawai forced herself to suppress her memories of him and vowed never to love anyone else. Following in her father's footsteps, she dedicated her life to teaching at the King Jan Daeng school from that day forward.
