Synopsis
Nabun is a recent university graduate and the owner of a popular website where teenagers gather to exchange knowledge. Known by his alias "Dek Chai" (Boy), he acts as the site administrator, specifically solving computer-related problems. Through his site, he meets Kiya, a young artist who has just started learning about computers. They develop a close bond while chatting over MSN.
When his father passes away, Nabun returns to his hometown, Ban Luem Bamrung, to arrange the funeral. He decides to stay with his mother and take over the family business: a shop selling flowers and funeral wreaths.
The village is soon troubled by strange occurrences involving Jong, the rebellious son of Chid Thong, the local gold shop owner. Jong often bullies Nein Kaen (Novice Kaen), but recently, Jong has been suffering from frequent seizures that look like demonic possession. His superstitious father takes him to Luang Phi Khon, a monk who claims to be a sorcerer and charges exorbitant fees for "magical" cures that fail to work.
Witnessing this, Nein Kaen tells Luang Ta Yen, the wise elder abbot of the local temple. Luang Ta Yen uses a clever ruse, telling Chid Thong he will cure Jong using "occult" methods if the boy ordains as a novice at the temple. Instead of magic, Luang Ta Yen secretly takes Jong to a hospital for proper medical treatment. He uses this as a teaching moment for Nein Kaen, instructing him on the Dharma principle of using reason and avoiding prejudice when making decisions.
Meanwhile, Kiya returns to the same village to work on her final thesis. Her father, Lung Jern, suggests she visit Luang Ta Yen’s temple for inspiration. While there, she is harassed by the flirtatious Chid Thong, but Nabun arrives just in time to rescue her. Kiya eventually consults with Luang Ta Yen about painting a mural on the ordination hall walls as both a religious offering and her thesis project.
The story of Thamma Tid Peek unfolds within the village, where Luang Ta Yen acts as a spiritual guide, teaching the inhabitants how to apply Dharma to their modern, everyday lives.
