Nat and Nan are twin siblings who were separated before they were old enough to remember anything, when Pim and Tan decided to divorce. Nat went to live with Tan, while Nan stayed with Pim. Out of pride, Pim refused to have any further contact with Tan, and they both agreed to keep the truth—that the children were twins—a secret.
Years later, Nat and Nan end up studying at the same university, and fate eventually brings them face to face. In Nat and Tan’s household, Paula becomes involved after hiring Tan to design and decorate her shop. Determined to marry Tan, Paula does everything she can to get close to him, which angers Nat. Nat often plays tricks on Paula, causing her trouble.
Nat is strong, straightforward, and a bit tomboyish from growing up with her father, but she is also a talented athlete who has won numerous gold medals in track and field during high school.
Meanwhile, Nan lives with Pim and her grandmother, with Theera becoming involved in their lives. Nan is obedient and hardworking, earning a place in the Faculty of Law. However, she has asthma and weak health, so she takes up athletics to strengthen her body, eventually becoming a gold medal-winning runner in high school. Unlike Nat, Nan tends to suppress her feelings—although she dislikes Theera, she never shows it.
