Synopsis
This story is set during World War II, specifically beginning on December 8, 1945. The formidable Japanese Imperial Army launched coordinated attacks by air, land, and sea against the Allied nations—Britain, the United States, and the Netherlands.
As part of their strategy, Japanese forces invaded Thailand at several key points. The Thai military was forced to surrender, leading to a treaty where Thailand joined the Axis Powers alongside Japan, Germany, and Italy. Consequently, the nation was thrust into a state of war that no one truly desired.
In response, a group of Thai people both inside and outside the country—comprising both soldiers and civilians—secretly formed the Seri Thai (Free Thai Movement) to fight for national sovereignty and the country's dignity.
Initially, Japan dominated the conflict, crushing Allied defenses and devastating the U.S. Naval Base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. They seized numerous islands across the Pacific, occupied the Philippines, and pushed into Burma, driving out the British occupiers before advancing toward India.
However, the tide eventually turned. The Japanese aggressors were pushed back on every front. The Allies began launching airstrikes against Thailand, targeting Bangkok in particular. This caused widespread panic and chaos, forcing citizens to evacuate their homes daily in a desperate bid for survival.
