Synopsis

Jomkwan, the youngest daughter of Kamnan Chai—the former headman of Ban Rai Pattana—is beautiful, lively, headstrong, and confident. She has spent years living in Bangkok for her studies and work, but when the small advertising company she works for collapses due to an economic crisis, she suddenly finds herself unemployed.
In the end, she decides to return home to start a new life, turning to agriculture in line with her family’s way of life. Her decision surprises everyone. Many doubt she can succeed, but her father respects her choice and gives her a plot of land to prove herself.
Jomkwan begins planning her work by studying integrated farming based on the “New Theory” approach. She gets help from Supannee, her chubby childhood friend who owns a bookstore and provides academic knowledge, and Natda, a gentle teacher who helps with market research.
While she is enthusiastically sharing her dreams with Supannee, Khetrath—a tall, dark, sharp-featured young man nearby—overhears and can’t help but laugh, doubting that a stylish, model-like woman could ever become a farmer. Jomkwan turns angrily toward him, ready to confront him, but Supannee stops her.
Rumors around the market say Khetrath is gay after heartbreak from his ex, Chutima. He is also close friends with Dechchai, one of Jomkwan’s older brothers. This makes Jomkwan worry about her brother’s influence. Meanwhile, Dechchai’s group of friends quietly observe Jomkwan, wondering if a city girl like her can survive as a farmer.
Opinions split: Khetrath and Lieutenant Woraphot believe she can succeed, while Phichai and Arak think she won’t last a year. This leads to a bet—each puts up 100,000 baht over one year, with Dechchai acting as judge. Jomkwan has no idea she’s the center of this wager.
Jomkwan consults the district agricultural office and meets Weerawut. She decides to grow limes (a crop no one else is planting), raise giant gourami fish, and keep laying hens to ensure steady income year-round. However, she needs help with land excavation from a neighboring large farm owned by Khetrath’s mother, Somsamai, where Khetrath manages operations.
Every time they meet, Jomkwan teases him about heartbreak and sexuality, thinking she’s hitting a nerve—but Khetrath always counters cleverly, leaving her speechless. As time passes, she begins to see his true nature: he seems kind, yet people warn her he’s dangerous. Suspicion surrounds his family, especially after whispers that his mother’s death may not have been an accident.
With Khetrath’s help, Jomkwan’s farm prospers. Later, she organizes a forest trip for her Bangkok friends, with Dechchai’s group as guides and Khetrath leading. During the trip, tensions rise—particularly with Nitipong, who becomes jealous of Khetrath’s care for Jomkwan.
One night, Nitipong is attacked from behind. Suspicion falls on Khetrath since he was outside the tent. Even his own brother, Nakrob, subtly pushes blame toward him. Lieutenant Woraphot, however, believes Khetrath is innocent.
After the incident, Jomkwan distances herself from Khetrath and focuses on her work, receiving frequent support from Weerawut—much to Khetrath’s jealousy. Unknown to her, Khetrath secretly helps fund her farm during difficult times.
Later, Jomkwan returns from Bangkok with exciting news: she has been chosen as the presenter for a phone company campaign titled “Come back home… love is waiting.” The campaign aligns with government policy encouraging unemployed people to return to their hometowns and build sustainable livelihoods—something she has successfully done.
One night, under the stars, Khetrath confesses his feelings and asks her to try being together. Caught off guard, Jomkwan shyly runs away.
But danger escalates. Weerawut’s car is sabotaged, Jomkwan is later shot during a tour, and misunderstandings deepen—she even suspects Khetrath. Meanwhile, Lieutenant Woraphot begins to suspect Nakrob, whose behavior grows increasingly suspicious.
Eventually, Khetrath himself is ambushed. As truths unravel, it’s revealed that Nakrob is behind everything. He kidnaps Jomkwan and lures Khetrath to a national park. In the final confrontation on a boat, Nakrob loses control, kills an accomplice, and forces Jomkwan to steer dangerously. After chaos and struggle, Nakrob ultimately takes his own life.
Khetrath is devastated, unable to keep his promise to his stepmother.
Later, he and Jomkwan sit together again on a boat, finally clearing their misunderstandings and comforting each other. He asks her to marry him once more. Though she still pretends to resist in her stubborn way, Khetrath now knows for certain—she will never leave him again.
