Synopsis

The story opens with a reflection: "The important heritage of today may be merely the way of life of yesterday." Pichan, the heir to a wealthy textile factory, contemplates this thought while admiring the Muang Tam Sanctuary, a thousand-year-old Khmer stone castle. As he prepares to photograph the sunbeams reflecting through a stone doorway, his camera captures a beautiful young woman wearing a uniquely woven fabric. Fascinated, Pichan follows her and secretly snaps her photograph before returning to Bangkok.
Later, at a prestigious textile competition, Sin Fai and Mai Kaeo take the stage to receive a grand prize. Watching from the crowd is Chamaiman, Pichan’s mother, whose eyes are filled with pure malice and vengeance. Pichan, on the other hand, is overjoyed to see the mysterious girl from the stone castle once again.
Chamaiman offers an exorbitant amount of money to buy the award-winning fabric from Mai Kaeo, but the young woman refuses and fires back with sarcastic remarks. Furious at the rejection, Chamaiman plots with her loyal subordinates, Kamphon and Choetchai, to find a way to forcefully take over the "Phleng Pha" (Song of the Cloth) weaving mill.
Pichan, however, chooses a path entirely different from his mother's corporate greed. Driven by a desire to truly understand the life and heritage behind the beautiful fabrics, he asks to live and work at the Phleng Pha mill. He humbles himself to learn how to play the Phin Pia (a traditional northern chest-resonated stick zither) from Sin Fai and learns the art of dyeing fabrics, with a worker named Sonon acting as his mentor.
Meanwhile, Ong-at moves freely through the weaving mill, openly acting as the man who has already claimed Mai Kaeo’s heart. This sparks a divide among the mill workers, who split into factions supporting either Pichan or Ong-at.
At the heart of the mill is a beautiful tradition: Sin Fai plays the northeastern Phin and the Phin Pia for Mai Kaeo to listen to whenever she is designing or weaving cloth—a cultural transmission passed down through generations. These melodies inspire exquisite, intricate fabric patterns that no one else can replicate. Through this immersive experience, Pichan begins to truly understand the true meaning of the "Song of the Cloth," just as clearly as he begins to understand his own heart.
