Synopsis
Khom is imprisoned on assault charges, where he meets and rescues Det from a prison gang. Grateful and impressed by Khom’s combat skills, Det—the trusted right-hand man of Tomorn, a powerful mafia boss involved in every type of illegal trade—invites Khom to join their organization. While Tomorn is initially hesitant to trust a newcomer, his other henchmen, Piya and Kitti, are immediately jealous of Det's return and Khom's presence.
Tomorn's daughter, Meena, is a beautiful, self-centered woman who is pampered by her father. Her world is shaken when Tomorn marries Thida, a famous actress from a wealthy family struggling with gambling debts. Meena feels displaced in her father's heart and finds solace in Pramet, only to discover he is already married with children. To fix her reputation, Tomorn tries to set her up with Phawat, a general's son.
The rivalry turns deadly when Don, a competing mafia boss, kidnaps Meena. Khom volunteers to rescue her with the help of his uncle, Nat. During a frantic escape through the jungle, Khom and Meena are forced off a cliff and into the wilderness. As Khom nurses a sick Meena back to health, she begins to fall for him, offering him a Sai Yut (Desmos chinensis) flower while reciting a poem: "The Sai Yut stops its scent at midday, but my love for you never ceases, nor does my sorrow fade."
After the rescue, Tomorn finally accepts Khom as a subordinate. However, Khom harbors a dark secret: he is actually an undercover agent in a secret government unit. His foster father, Phisut, was even murdered by Tomorn’s men for interfering in their illegal business.
Tensions rise at home as Thida begins to pursue Khom, leading to a fierce rivalry with Meena. Following his uncle’s advice to gain Tomorn's ultimate trust, Khom proposes to Meena. Though he tries to keep his heart guarded for the sake of his mission, he eventually falls deeply in love with her.
The climax arrives during a major drug deal. Tomorn is devastated to learn that Khom is a "rat." In the ensuing shootout, Khom is forced to return fire, and Meena witnesses her father being killed by the man she loves. Before dying, Tomorn asks Det to look after Meena. Det, feeling utterly betrayed by his best friend, vows to protect her from Khom.
Khom eventually tracks Meena down in Chiang Mai, bringing her a Sai Yut flower and reciting their poem once more. Having successfully "outmaneuvered the god of death" (Hak Liam Phra Kan) in his mission, Khom is left with a final, agonizing choice between duty and love. Can Meena ever truly forgive the man who killed her father? And can the broken bond between Khom and Det ever be mended?
