In the city of Udom, King Triphop rules alongside his two consorts, Queen Manee and Queen Tatsanee. Despite their long reign, the King has no heir to carry on the royal lineage. To remedy this, he performs a sacred sacrifice to Lord Shiva, pleading for a son.
Upon receiving the King's prayer through his divine insight, Lord Shiva summons Phra Phirun (the God of Rain) to prepare for reincarnation into the human realm. However, Phra Rahu (the Deity of Darkness) and Nang Chinda Mekhala (the Goddess of Lightning) also wish to descend to Earth.
After some deliberation, Phra Rahu proposes a unique solution: all three deities will manifest in the human world according to the seasons. Under this pact, Phra Rahu will appear during the summer, Phra Phirun during the rainy season, and Nang Chinda Mekhala during the winter.
